1939 - MISTEGUAY - 1940 SOPHONORL CLaSS HISTORY One of the finest groups of Freshies that ever enrolled in the New Lathrop High School now declare themselves full-fledged Sophomores in the year l94O. One of the first big events of the Freshman year was initiation. There were these Freshies to initiate: Mary Kuchar, Hannah Beth Vernon, Virginia Phelps Martha Lucas, Maurine Call, Joe Gasperosky, George Fabian, Jack Fuller, LeRoy Hamlin, Homer Campbell, Mary Ann Shears, and Harold Ballinger. When the class met for organization the result of the election was as follows: President -------------- Maurine Call Vice-President ------ Virginia Phelps Secretary -------------- Martha Lucas Treasurer -------- Hannah Beth Vernon Student Council --------- Mary Kuchar Class Adviser ------------- Miss Otto During the year, Homer Campbell, LeRoy Hamlin, and Mary Ann Shears left. We than had only nine in our class. In September, the fall of l959, we returned to school as Sophomores. when we checked our group, we found that there was one missing, Harold Ballinger. New ones to enter our class vers: Joyce Bergquist, Ronald Leitow, and Donald Steers. We chose the following officers for the year: -Joe Gaspcrosky ---Martha Lucas Treasurer -------------- Maurine Call -Virginia Phelps --George Fabian ------Miss Otto President ----------- Vice-President ------ Secr:tary----- ---- - Student Council ----- Class Advisor ------- We did our part in the annual school carnival, and shared in the proceeds. We have had several' enjoyable school parties. We are looking forward to the time when we shall bc the NDignifiedn Senior class of l942. 3
