SENIOR WILL We the members of the 1954 graduattng class betng of sound mmds and bodies hereby will and bequeath to the Junior Class our talents and properties as hereinafter listed If SYLVIA BROWN will continue the popping MAXINE STEWART wtll leave her all her chewing gum EARL GRIFFIN wills his forward ways to MARY ANN SNELL for use during her Senior year knowrng she will continue his tucks of the trade J C BENN isn t particular about giving anythmg to anybody He hasn t obtamed much, so if he gives something away he might be weighed in the balance and found wanting BONNIE LAKE isn t particular elther however she leaves her sports abrllty to MARGARET RULE just give your opponent a shove RUTHIE DOWELL wills her typing ability to MARY ELLEN SMALLWOOD ln hope she wrll use It along wtth the art of skipping school without even bemg missed Sorry MARY ELLEN RUTHIE ls keeping her hold on LYLE FAYE SCHOENEMAN bestows upon MARY CATHERINE SPARKS her artistic touch with both the pamt brush and the men On BILL GERMAN DONNIE GOULD generously bestows his excess energy If used sparrngly xt should go a long way DONNIE also wills the AH of making neat and unnoticed typing erasures to LYLE WAYNE MELBA SCHWANKE BOWLES wills her blushing ways and quiet mannerlsms rn catching a husband to JANE LYNG for use on the males of her choice attending N L H S in 1955 To BOBBY ROACH BERDETTE COOK leaves hrs appealing charm for both basketball and the opposrte sex good luck, Bobby CAROLYN MECI-ILIN leaves her ability to play the flute fluently to FLOYD LEAKE provtdlng he begins hrs musrc lessons immedrately CLARENCE LUCAS wills his wavv hair and sunny dlsposrtion to the GIBBS TWINS for use on a rainy day CLEVE SNODGRASS gives to WOODIE ST CLAIR his manly physique to be used in winning the teachers to his side To WAYNE LAKE I-IURLEY DANIELS bestows hrs abrlity to shoot rabbrts as well as three left over shells HURLEY will be too busy chasing women to fool with rabbits It looked like CHARLES JAMESON was going to take JOYCE LAKE with him but has decided to leave er just the memory mantlc accomplishments to our bashful and poetlc BOBBY JOE PARKER DEAN LAKE wills to JOANN ADKISSON his regular seat in the office and asks her if she would mind too much keeping Mr Taylor company during his absence Party of the first part infers that rf the party of the second part ls as resourceful and successful as the fust party they wxll go down rn history as one of the best seluor classes of New London High School, wtth standing, of course the present flrst party HISTORY On September 1 1942 the members of the Senior class started their educatior in many sectrons of the United States some enrolling in the one room country schools and some in the larger town schools Bonnie and Dean Lake were the only two that started their first grade here In New London, although they wandered away for their fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades By September 1 1950 they were Green Freshmen and twenty seven in number flfteen of whrch are graduating from good old N L H in 1954 The hlghlrght of the year was the crownmg of Ruthre Dowell as F F A Sweetheart September 1 1951 twenty two Sophomores enrolled in N L H Of the present Senior group they lost Ruth Dowell and gained Carolyn Mechlm The Junior class was made up of eighteen members The class was honored that year by havrng the Whizz Queen Faye Schoeneman They also worked hard to present the Senior Class with a banquet Topsy Turvey Tophat It was a scramble of fun to get the church decorated for Commencement and Baccalaureate During the summer the class was shocked by the loss of Wayne Schoeneman There ls a total of sixteen Sentors who wtll graduate May 14 1954 Therr last year m N L H was full of events Dean Lake was elected Whizz King, Melba Schwanke was married to John Bowles lan uary 21 the Senior play No Moon Tonight was a big success we took our Senior trip to Chtcago for three days, and the banquet and prom Moonlight and Music is one that will never be forgotten r i . . h HAROLD BAILEY has made it known, In the presence of witnesses, that he wills his mastermind and ro-
