RECCDGNITICN Leonard Bulkeley, Asa Otis, Henry P. Haven, George F. Tinker-these are the names that will always identify the real founders and earliest benefactors of Bulkeley School. The pres- ent generation of students may be interested to know that the funds for building the first addition to the original school were donated by the Hon. George F. Tinker and that this section now comprises the biology, chemistry, and physics departments as well as the science and drafting rooms. 'Like father, like son,' finds a true and impressive applica- tion in this tribute to Charles P. Tinker, Rector Emeritus of Grace Episcopal Church, Nutley, New Jersey. His father, a former mayor of New London will be remembered as one of the most civic-minded men in the history of our city. So, Charles P. Tinker. besides being a pastor and rector for forty-four years, is himself an active leader in important branches of social work and is recognized as the founder of modern methods in prison chaplains' service. Rev. Charles P. Tinker is one of the four surviving members of the Class of 1884, a group including Addison Graves, Frederick W. Mercer, Edward S. Moore, William H. Reeves, and Ernest E. Rogers. He is an alumnus of Wesleyan University, Class of 1889. and a bronze tablet in the University library commemorates his fifty years efficient service as class secretary. His fruitful, en- ergetic life still includes lecturing and editorial work for religious magazines. Mr. Tinker is a loyal alumnus of Bulkeley School. He and his classmates were special guests at the alumni reunion at the Griswold Hotel in June, 1934.
