SENIOR ’68 PROPHECY A wc stepped out on the peristylium cn the way to the chariot races, we conversed upon a soothsayer, and we, the class of '69, inquired upon his intelligence to foretell the futures of the NI.HS Seniors o: '6S. At the local doctor’s office, we see JAMES McCABE, M.D., and his busy assistant, DEBBIE RAPIEN, R.N. In walks JIM JACOBS asking about his terrible hacking cough. Around the corner at Mug’s'' GOODY'S tap, is the featured singer, PAT WALKER with her big hit, My Cup Runneth Over. At the back table sits muscular JON PROTTSMAN drowning his sorrows over his lost loves. SUE HEIPHREY, a highly esteemed publisher, has just contracted KEVEN BAILEY to attempt to contract his new book, a take-off from, My Mother the Car, called, My Wife the Tang. Further along we come to the Economy Oil Company, owned and proprictcd by RANDY CHRISMAN, whose most fre- quent customer is GREGG McKINNON, who says he never buys any watered-down Conoco gas for any of his racing ma- chines. REGGIE WILLIAMSON is a typical trophy hunter. Well, JUDY, is it Hue that he always gets his dear? JAN DAVIS has become a heavy equipment operator. Her basic piece of equipment is a maintainer, because she has the job of making impossible roads at least parkablc, just to reminisce. The internationally known basketball team, the Redheads, have acquired three former N.L. stars: DALENE ALLEN, SUSIF. BUDDE, and MERI HANKS. INA BAUMAN has a new chain of restaurants called Bauman's Buffet, whose headquarters is at good ole N.L. Here we are at the 40th Annual Sjwrtscar Race, and going into his SOth lap wc have Leadfoor Louis, alias BOB HUDDLESTON in his Fiiiiiat. followed by DUANE JCY going into his SECOND lap In his Ramble, Ramble, Ramble, Rambler. BILL BROWN is the drummer for the top group ir. the nation, whose most recent hit song is, And Then Along Comes Marta. As wc pass along the stately boulevard wc see COLBY'S Exclusive Hardward Limited, former New London Glove Fac- tory. As we transverse further we find DENNIS DICKEY's, Dickey's Daily Journal, published twice monthly and his highly renowned, speedy, ambitious paper boys, CARL MOON and BOB MILLER. Across the street is STEVE HUNTER'S Fashion Flair, beauty salon. So far, customers have been limited to the girls from the class of '71. At Lowell stadium we see VICKI TEBBS, the first lady mayor of Lowell, cutting the ribbon for the opening tag team wrestling match featuring MAULER MINNY and GOLDEN BOY GOMF.R vs Mungo and the Gang. JUDY KUHLENBECK has taken her coaching abilities outside of her high school years. She is now coaching CONNIE JOHNSON to a winning position in the Olympics. Automation has become a dominant factor in our society, but as of yet, our own JULIA FULLERTON has not been re- placed by the new computer regulating the little ones in their daily physical educational classes. Some of the class ha sprouted out even as tar as Danville. CHUCK HARTUNG is now the proprietor of the Commu- nity Home, which has become a fabulous business adventure . . . always did like the older ones, huh Chuck? BOB SIBERTS has developed his speedy ability even further as he has competed in five Olympic games so far and is still going strong at SO years of age. One of the class barely made it through the winter cold and that was JANE because her WOOD ALL gone. BETTY has little time for her Home Ec. classes because Edd is always Collins. PAULA really made it big in the movies. She got a part in the cowboy and Indian show, 'cause she can really bite the DUST MAN! DENNIS KRIECER has just composed his fifth big hit dedicated to EVELYN. It's Comg to be a RICE Day Today. ' CONNIE SIMMONS is still taking 200 pep pills a day, it keeps her gning on. Now she's trying to think of a way to get out of housework, she finally mastered homework. CAROLYN WILLIAMS now walks completely different since the class of '69 donated all extra funds to get the swivel in her hips fixed. RICK DODDS is now a crack Naval Commander in charge of the Karate department at Anaheim. Oh yes, and another of the class of '68 is out in California. She is the current president of the Ar.aheim Arusa Cucamcna Sewing Circle, Book Review, and Timing Association, CATHY O'NEILL. RANDY VAN SYOC left high school with the intentions of being an art major. He found it difficult to Stay in college and be untrue to his real, underlying beliefs. He is now sitting on a curb in Haight Ashbury painting psychedelic pictures. (In other words, he's a scurby ole hippy!) RICK MORROW, expert draftsman and his trusty assistant, FLOYD COOPER, arc doing quite well. Yeah, quite well. After years of practice at keeping his pickup and tractor under control, KERRY HAMILTON finally took up the pro- fession of farming. MIKE JEFFREY and DAVE SIMMONS have been collaborating forsomc time in a combination muscum-dragstrip. It's a joint elfort to revive the good ole days of hommy trucks and toadmobilcs. BONNIE and JANET have been trying to get an endowment from the Economy Oil Company so they don't have to pay for all the gas they burn. And, of course, wc all know what KENNY'S profession is. Here is one of the poems that he wrote back in '68. ODE OF '68 by Ken Simmons Where did the years all go? Within ourselves memories flow. Of the good times and the bad; Parties, sports, and passing fads. We've come a long way from milk time and naps to walking the aisle under tasslc and cap. V Homecomings and proms play on my mind. Our class just has to be one of a kind. The ties that bind us are strong and taut Cooperation and determination arc what we've got. United together toward one common cause. To leave our school with the minimum of flaws. The future lies at our feet. Remember this one thing when problems you meet. It matters not your vocation of field, But on the quality of your character and the impression it yields. 22
