All too often We take teachers and friends for granted, not realizing what an important role they have played in our lives. As Mrs. Pierce retires, we do realize that she has been both friend and teacher to us through these, our formative, our high school years. Many a freshman has been charted a clearer course to follow because Mrs . Pierce has shown him the art and the necessity of communication in today's troubled Waters. Not only has she thus taught, but she has also proven herself to be our friend by setting us an example of refinement, charm, intellectual curiosity and interest in our fellow students. Thus we proudly dedicate this edition of the Wildcat to Mrs. Pierce and send with her our best wishes for the happiness and health of her and her family . . . THE STAFF OF THE 1966 WILDCAT Mrs, Pierce in her classroom. 2 Liv A w me , Ruth Motter--Clerk, Charles Meyer--President, Archie Case, Harold Perry Jr., W. R. To the class of '67 We leave the Senior Lounge and chess set. To the class of '68 we leave the right to have a successful prom. To the class of '69 we leave the right to have good mum sales. To the class of '70 we leave the right to be picked on by everyone else. To the Administration we leave phony sickness excuses, Who me? excuses, unexcused absence slips, and our gratitude for all their help. To the Teachers we leave a great big bottle of Excedrin. To the Cooks we leave all the Tuna Boats they can eat. And to the Janitors We leave noisy heaters, hot rooms, whistling thermostats, and complaining teachers. The major objective of the F.T.A. is to secure an adequate and continuing supply of effective teachers for Ohio's schools. The program is directed toward orientating high school students to the teaching profession, guiding them and counseling with them to help them evaluate themselves in relation to teaching as a career. In attaining these goals, the 45 members of the F.T.A. collected food, clothing, and toys at Christmas for a needy family, acted as guides for Open House, attended a county meeting in Bellevue, and served the faculty, administration and school with over 3, O00 hours of service. On july 15, 1916, the present public library was formally dedicated. It was a gift of Andeew Carnegie, great benefactor of libraries, and Homer johnson, who gen- erously gave half of the money in behalf of the townspeople, as well as the land on which the library stands. The present library training program for high school students was started in 1952, although there have always been high school stu- dents who have assisted with the library service. Thus far, 107 students have served as helpers in the library. RA l ', 6 vs .V QI' I '-In .X lllllie 44 Tl-IEQPIANQ SENIORS L to R--STANDING--M. Donaldson, D. Gessner, G. Johns, K. Hall, L. Perry, B. The Boosters con- tribute about three thousand dollars annually to the different sport programs of New London High. Of the many things they contribute, these are the most out- standing. They have bought uniforms for the football, basketball, baseball, and track teams. Also for the football team, they have bought a blasting machine, the whirlpool, movie camera, movie projector, the post-game meals for the team, and other essential equipment. They also sponsored a trip to an Ohio State football game for the team. For the basketball team, they have bought a tip-O-matic, a rebounder, warm up jackets, post game meals for the team, and other things that made the season successful. For the track team, they have bought hurdles, starting blocks, and other track equipment. F or the baseball team, they have bought bats, balls, and other nec- essary equipment. The golf team received new hats, courtesy of the Booster Club. The boosters earn their money by selling programs in the fall at the home football games and by doing other worthwhile projects. Another contribution of the Booster Club is the annual two hundred dollar athletic scholarship which was given this year to john Crecelius. 66 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER JOHN C REC ELIUS giiiwm 'llffzhww CONCEPT MARC!-IING WH' SPONSOR: THE NEW LONDON MUSIC PARENTS CLUB BAND DRUM M4-UOIZ Qi, , , , , va!
