New London was hampered by many injuries and lack of adequate bench strength. Illustrating this fact is that four Wildcats were selected as all area players . New London highlights were scoring upon previously unbeaten, un- tied, unscored upon Huron and the victory over Wellington's Dukes . 35 SENIORS fi N QQ? This year we had 25 acres of corn in the Reed Grain Program . We also participated in the district and state livestock judging contests . Four members attended the State FFA convention with their advisor . The chapter had four members at FFA camp and all reported a good time . The chapter also participated in the county Parliamentary Procedure contest and the members received a silver award on their demonstration. This year the members exhibited at the Huron County Fair again and several won prizes on their exhibits . We won third place on the FFA conservation booth at the fair . Several members also exhibited in the State Fair. The New London FFA chapter was judged to be second in the county for the Outstanding Vo-Ag Department . The prize was based on percent of members exhibiting and the number of awards received at the fair . We had 892 of the members exhibiting and ll awards won. 58 The F.H.A. sponsored by Mrs. Ruth McLaughlin is one of the schools most vital organizations. The Future I-lomemakers learn all the domestic arts and take care of many school sewing projects. A few of the many F.H.A. activities included the Huron County Fair projects, county-wide wool contest, county- wide formal initiation, and a Christmas party for small children. The family potluck supper and a pic- nic at the recreation park were also included in the year's activities. This year the Senior members prepared a Fallout Shelter Food Display, a project of great interest to the school and community. Q .4 V1 if W 93 1 JA , 'if r 4 'J up A . . The program was concluded by the great moment awaited by all of the seniors--the presentation of their diplomas. Dignifiedn Senior Boys OHIO BODY It is early in '70, snow is on the ground, I sit in the library and as I look around, The picture that hangs on the opposite wall Brings memories of '60, the class one and all. The first that I notice is Ronnie E. Betz. The girls have been casting, but never a catch. His shingle says Ronnie a surgeon is now, A versatile operator--and how! Next to my gaze comes dauntless Phil Brittain. As 'swabby' the captain says, He is my kitten. When cleaning the deck he is always rush, rush, Cleaning the ship with the captain's toothbrush. Alas for the Air Force, they never got Gary. Tho' Bonney could probably Buzz any prairie. At football he fit in like salt in a shaker. And now he is a very prosperous baker. Of Meredith Brazie I hear it is said She's a high school teacher of Physical Ed. She does very well and gets along fine Keeping all her teen-agers a'toeing the line. Tom Brundage is a most likeable guy And the apple of many a pretty girl's eye. A successful electrician Thomas is now With very good current connections--and how! A real sort of fellow, our own Gary Burt, From off his back he will give you his shirt. The cows in the meadow think he is a charmer, For now he's a warrn hearted, warm handed farmer. He now has a panel truck with a very big siren The name on the panel is Gary P. Byron. When chasing the girls he would never once rest, Now he fashions clothing that suits them best. Dave Cline is a very intelligent guy, He roars like a lion, but is really quite shy. He will do anything to eam a fast buck. Pure Oil is stuck with his driving their truck. Janet Copley today is the same Winsome gal And Wally, her husband, is more than a pal. She has always been busy with many a chore. Now she runs a chain of A 8: P stores. Majorette Carol Cowie hasn't changed much, Still has a mind of her own, Washes and mends, does cleaning and such But as for baking, she has a baker at home. Crabbs has a business that's thriving right now. He'll haul anything from a nail to a cow. And when Kenny Murr hears someone running amuck, I-le knows it's Jimmy driving the truck. And then there's my friend that I call Ollie, Intellectual Davies, long haired as a Collie. Chemical wizard for soaps or gears For now he is one of our top engineers. Musical scores held no mystery For our classmate Gloria Delamaterg But now her neighbors can hardly see VVhy she's playing the Sweet Potater. Denslow now has a shop called Tony's. All of the horsemen take him their ponies. Carnivorous animals, or even vegetarian Everyone takes to Tony the veterinarian. Kathleen Duta is a real go-getter-- For a dollar she'll make any dog a sweater. The best around she is at knitting. Send your poodle to her for a fitting. The cow's in the meadow the sheep's in the corn Little blue Edler, come blow your hom. With stock in the pasture and hay in the barn Garry is busy now out on his farm. Bernice Fowler grabbed her man when he came, And he, being smart, did the same. They used to find pleasure reading books, But now they are reading to ten little Shocks. Talkative, likeable, winsorne and prudent Linda was New London's top honor student. Vehicles roll as she puts on the pans The Garrett wheelbarrow is made by her hands. Pat Garrett's vacation? She didn't get any. From school to Norwalk to work for a Penney. She dreamed of wedding a millionaire Texan But came out much better, she married a Jackson Come on in and drop your grip At Granneman's you'll sure get clipped. He'll scrape your face and haggle your hair For Ronnie's a barber, extraordinaire Crash! Bang! Wham! A pile of junk They brought the parts home in a truck. I-Iarp's Body Shop put them together So that you can't tell if or whether. Orlo Hartley was destined for fame Without him the class would not be the same. He sits in his office and tums on the fan And that's how he got to be a 'Drafts' man. A Regalia business she's working toward-- I'm speaking of Gloria Hodges, If ever she buys out C. E. Ward lt's sure to be Hodges for Lodges. Red haired and skinny, and hard as a nail-- John Howard's the one with his head in the pail At football this boy really showed them a trick And now he's an automobile me-chan-ic. Basketball, football, and even track To Elvin King take off your hat. From old N.I.. they've skimmed the cream-- Elvin's on the Olympic Team. Kathy's another who spent time with books Knew all of the volumes about saints and crooks. And history, math, and others by the score. Can all be bought at King's Book Store. She's good at Judo, can handle any tough-- They settle down when she takes them, by scruff. As a police woman, she brings them in quick-- Stand aside--here's Lt. Marcia Kirkpatrick. I-larold's built a mighty bridge Now that an architect he is. When the inspectors start a tapping I hope that Harold isn't knapping. Mother and Dan, and Mary Ann Will steer you thru the trap When tax time is set by Uncle Sam. See Knapp and Knapp and Knapp. Then there's Jim Lawrence--we called him Spook-- Hardly a square and never a Kook. New London's not haunted by Jim any more, In Cleveland he's running a grocery store. With blackjack proficient, with gat even better The Feds swear someday they will surely get her. If you have a gun and want dough of your own See Joyce Lowery, the gunmoll, 'ala' Capone. The tougher the subject, the less he'd falter, Academic high scores were made by Guy Walter. In New London he is still running the Inn A big sign in front-- Lucas'--buy it for a fin. Charles McClave now has his own store And sells chain-saws, engines, and mowers galore. He 's invented one for tin cans and bones. He n1ns the place that used to be Stone's. Dennis McConnell, a son of the soil, Worked at Ward's and there he did toil. When he quit they said he'd go to the dogs-- But he's usin his loud voice to call his ho s 8 8 - Ball four, the Ump cried, it went over the fence. The last two you pitched went in the audience. Merrill, you've tom off an ear and a chin I-Iere's the ball, I give up, you win! !! Remove your freckles or give you a dimple Beautician Miller makes the job so simple. Sandy's diploma was eamed in some part For catching a toad and removing a wart. Tobacco farming now is his game, Growing, drying, and sortin'. And cigarettes now bear his name They are now calling for Phillip Mourton. Terrier or mut, Don Murr loves them all. Our Dog Catcher's waiting whenever you call. So send him all your old worn-out bones, For Wildcat takes all the dogs home. Successful in business is our Dorothy Nichols. Remember how crazy she was about pickles? I hear her new plant is really a perkin' Exclusively packing the little Dill Gherkin. Dave Oney's a Frogmang the Navy made him tough. One hitch was all he stayed--that was enough. Now he has a frog farm, just South of his Dad's, He herds the tadpoles beneath the lilly-pads. Hear that siren screaming by? Some guy has something in his eye. They'll break their own two legs and worse For Patsy Osborne is their nurse. 'Ducky's' in the army now-- Hope the fighting won't get fierce. But wherever it's the worst We know there you'll find John Pierce. Carol Porter married a minister Over near the city of Medina. A missionary man was he So Ann is now in far off China. If you get to N. Y. with some time to spare See the Museum where the paintings are rare. If you look in the corner, you'll see Where the name Tom Randleman happens to be. Talk away--that Schneider gal can put it down! She's faster on dictation than anyone around. Her boss can't find mistakes--he hasn't a chance, When he looks at Sal, his eyes begin to dance. Remember Ann, the gal we used to call Snuffy, I-lubey called her Black-Smith--and she was a toughy I-Ier favorite pastime still is sipping cider, She wasn't tough 'cause now her name is Snyder. Snyder's Furniture still sells And ships 'most any where. But I-Iubey Jr. sits out front In his OIe Rockin' chair. If you get in a jam and a lawyer you need Spider Staples will fix it with great speed. Her shingle you'll find on a house on 250 The prices she charges are really quite nifty. Steinke and Wells are a Tag Team now And both have lots of 'hustle.' First, Tom jumps in, then jumps right out To watch his mate, muscle and tussle. Carol Straton spent two years In chorus singing parts. Now she sings at home with Bob And several little Harps. Five hundred miles of dust and grease, Lap after lap--they never cease. Who just drive thru the judge's house? Look out! It's Darryl Tulk-- The Mouse. Deep chested, tanned, and wavy haired So ladies, don't worry. Roger Ulm has got the job as Life Guard at the Clarksfield quarry. The world now hears his real cool horn Seen dancing like Astair reborn. No one will ever lack for fun While we still have Dick Weathington. It was hard for Mellanie to make up her mind-- To work or get married--her happiness to find. She finally decided Mrs. Pocock she'd be And the rest of her life she'd live happily. Lois Winfield teaches Spanish in a big city school The students all agree that she is very 'cool.' But Lois quickly admits and agrees ? That when the right man comes along, she'll si, si. And now you'll all say my bull is so sick That he ought to be taken to our vet Tony. But in my butcher shop I'll slice it for you Thick or thin, it will still be baloney. J. D.
