Standing: Tony Denslow, Marvin XVard, jim Westeriiian, Lois Wiiifield, Sandy Golding. Quiz Bee started this year with approximately 25 students under the direction of Mr. Giiton and Mrs. Pierce. After many questions and much drill on those questions, twelve participants took the final qualifying test. The six with the top scores, Judi Finkel, Ginny Redies, Linda Garrett, Dave Cline, Tom Steinke, Marla Ringler, composed the team with Sandy Golding, Jim Westermaii, and Lois Wi1'1field as alternates. On April 29, the team took their places at assembly for the Lake' land Conference contest. The team had a total of 59 points and no perfect scores on the team. Each year New London sends its outstanding scholastic students to Heidelburg College for the District Scholarship Tests. The students who go are those who have ranked highest in the tests taken locally. This is the second year that New London has sent two participants in each subject. Regular business meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. The officers for 195811959 were: Dan Ringler, president, Ariane Barnes, vicefpresident, Ginny Redies, sec' retaryg Jim Mitchell, treasurer, and Marla Ringler, clerk. In addition to the regular meetings, the Thesf pians gave two plays during the year. On Decemf ber 18, 1958, they presented a three act comedy entitled The Whole Town's Talking. At the Spring Festival, May 1, 195 9, a series of three one act plays were presented, a comedy - Father Lives With Seven Women, a mystery- Scary Hollow, and a tragedy- L'Night Scene.
