Q0 EN EL I-II j7f17!417!77L7f45j' . Sophomore Class History ti N the year of' 1921, twenty-seven boys and girls entered the assembly room of the N. L. H. S. These pupils were classed as Fresh- men. After eight years of grammar school, and then to arrive before these INTELLECTUAL people, so full of pep that they tried to frighten the poor Freshmen. Indeed, the Freshmen were so superior in brilliance, that they rather dreaded having to spend four years with such uudignified I persons. During this year. Mr. Keay. our principal, asked what the opposite chemical substance of salt was. ' One of our brilliant pupils answered pep- per. All of these things go to prove that the Freshmen 1-lass was the smartest ever. Our first class was--linglish. VVe did not know whether we would care for this or not, but decided, after considering our teacher. that we would eondescend to like the subject a little. The first class meeting was of great importance, as we elected our ofiicers. After voting we elected .lack Richards as president. Don Seiler as vice-president, Ruth Palmer as secretary. and Robert Richards as treasurer. VVith these people as ofiicers we soon had our first party at Glorene Coleman's. The Freshman year soon passed, and we gathered into the assembly room. not as Freshmen, but as Sophomores. Now we were classed as lN- THLLICICNT CFD persons. This year began again with the linglish class, and we learned to care for the subject. There were still twentyeseven in this class. Although one person had moved away. another had taken her place. liven Don Seiler was beginning to be distinguished, for new his aim had improved so that he was able to knock a Hy ofi' from Kenneth Jacoby's ear without hurting him. Our first Sophomore party was at Dick C'arvey's, and everyone had a wonderful time. And now this class of twenty-seven is aspiring to become dignified Juniors-at last! MARIAN S. VVHITH.
