EN EL HI to take his place. The teachers for the year were: Burnworth, Gordon. Johnson, Long, Paxton, and Sprague. The only party during our Sophomore year was held at the hoine of Leroy Roorback. No other events of nn- portance happened during the year and it closed with :L picnic at Crystal Beach. The fall of '21 found us taking up our work as Juniors. To the faculty that year were added: Keay, Johnson, Morris and Gillogly, these taking the places of Johnson, Gordon, Long and Sprague. This was the year of work, being made thus by the presence of lNIorris and Keay. The reception that we gave in honor of the Seniors proved to be the largest and best of its kind. VVe ended the year by a picnic at Ruggles Beach. After a lnueh enjoyed vacation, we came back to the old school building for the last year. The presence of Barnes and Hatch in our faculty group, in the places of Gillogly and Keay, inade us feel that the nalne of Senior iinplies. Chew- ing guln and whispering was absolutely forbidden in Mr. Hatch's class. Our failing of being late was also stopped. And now our last year is at an end. VVe close this class history by saying that this graduating class of '23 consists of thirty-one lll6lNlJCl'SQ fifteen boys and sixteen girls. RI JTH Rl TSSELL.

EN EL HI E unnnulnllnlInnuunnnunlnulll E Histor of Class of '23 lil UST twelve short years ago, we. the class ot' '23, started upon our school career. The class at that time was large and happy, but of that original group only a few remain. This number includes: Laylin Bliss, Frances Fuller. Harvey Hall, Donald Kirkton, Paul Messenger, Lawrence O'Hara. Ivy Smith, Byron VVhite and Philip VVhite. Ten of our present class joined us as Freshmen, one as a Sophomore, live as Juniors. one as a Senior and two from the class of '22 remained in school to graduate with us. Early in the fall of '19 we held our first class meeting. Harvey Hall was elected President, Donald Barrett. Vice- President, lda Harrod, Secretary, Gerald Ensley, Treasurer. The members of the faculty that year were: Burnworth. Flowers. Johnson, Paxton, Shidaker, and Sprague. During the year a weiner roast was held at the rural home of Leah Perkins, and a party in the basement of the Congregational Church. After the party all were taken to their various homes on a bob-sled. XVe were all glad when the school year ended, however, so that we could rid ourselves of the hateful name of green little Freshiesf' The following year another class meeting was held to elect a new Treasurer, the oliice hcing left vacant by the moving away of Gerald ltlnsley. '2 - nominee unior Class Histor lil N the fall ot' 1920 there was brought forth into New London High School a new Freshman Class, formed from a motley mass of students from all over our town and the adjoining districts. The mem- bers were twenty-eight in number. Our faculty that year were: Mr. Burnworth, Miss Paxton, Miss Gordon. bliss Sprague. Miss Long and Mr. Johnson. Many from the adjoining townships came that year to fill our ranks. They were VVinifred Upton, Marjorie Cole, Bessie Day. Ruth Day. Frances Sellars, ltlarian Coon, Ruby Beers, Hlarybelle Hubba1'd,John Jewett, Joseph Atkinson, Thomas Sellars, Dick Shipman, Owen Thomas, Vtfeldon Vtlilliams. Early in the fall we held a class meeting, electing as our class otlicers. Murray lNIcC'aleb. Presidentg Alvin f'asto. Vice Presidentg and Elizabeth Robinson, Secretary and 'l'reasurer. Our first party. a inarslnnallow roast, was held at the home of liliza- beth Robinson. Other parties during the year were held at the homes of Marybelle Hubbard, Frances Sellars. Grace Dawson. and Vtlinifred Upton. YVhen we entered our Sophomore year, one new member, Harold Cole, had joined us, and two had left our ranks to enter another school. During the year one of our number, Marjorie Colemwas summoned to the other world. She was one of our best loved companions, spreading a gleam of sunshine wherever she went. with a kind word for every one. and her death was greatly mourned by all. Our faculty that year were: Mr. Burnworth, Mr. Keay. Miss Morris, Miss Gillogly, Miss Johnson and Miss Paxton. Our class was well repre- sented in all school activities. Parties during the year were held at the homes of lithelyn Jenny, Mur- ray McCaleb. Grace Dawson and Frances Sellars. Robert Swanger also entertained the Freshmen and Sophomore Classes with a dance. A few days after school was out, a lf'reshman-So-phoinore class picnic was held at Crystal Beach. The majority of the class reported a good time. Our class this year has a total of twenty-tive members. one Owen Thomas. having left our class, and two having been added to our list, lrene Marrett and .lack Richards. MURRAY lNIeC'AI,l'll5.
