Cast Will and Zest ament We, the graduating class of New London High School of 1957, realizing that the close of our school days is near at hand, think it wise to leave some- thing to those who in the future will undertake to fill our places. In the course of our high school days, naturally, we would like to dispose of all our characteristics, habits, beloved possessions, and worldly goods as follows: Section I. To the Junior Class we leave our front row seats in assembly and hope they look as attractive there as we did. Section II. To the Sophomores we leave our ability to sweet-talk the teachers into any and everything. Section III. To the Freshmen we will our studying habits and quietness in study hall. Section IV. To Mr. Turner and the faculty we leave a sincere appreciation for their interest and willingness to help each student. Section V. To our advisor, Mrs. Rogers, we leave our grateful appreciation for friendship and understanding through our high school years. Section VI. To individuals we do let fall o n worthy shoulders these personal belongings: Item 1—1, Faye McIntyre, leave my ability to foul in basketball to Jo Starr. Item 2—1 Donald Faulkner, do will my corny jokes and my ability to laugh at them myself to Jimmy dark. Item 3—1, Peggy Turner, do leave my ability to get married AND GRADUATE, to Frances Plyler. Item 4—1, Betty Griffin, leave my well worn typing book to my brother, Donald, since it is too abused for much more use. Item 5—1, Ava Kirk, will my ability to go steady to Katheryn Starnes. Item 6—1, Gwen Calloway, will my bottle of hair bleach to Jeanette Wagner Item 7—1, Lewis Burris, will my quiet ways to Roger Scott. Item 8—1, Lenn Bullock, leave . . . Item 9—1, Neva Jo Hunter, leave my witty ways and my ability to play basketball to Katheryn Griffin. Item 10 — I, Mildred Miller, do will and bequeath my slow and almost sure movements to Linda Burris. Item 11 — I, Reba Morton, do will my giggles and chatter to Barbara Harward.

The new middleweight champion of the world is our hometown boy, Lenn Bullock. Grady Maner has entered politics. He is the junior member of the House of Representatives from North Carolina. Carol Glover has become a five star general in the United States Army. Gary Frick has become one of the world ' s foremost scientists and is currently working on the X bomb. Reba Morton has teamed up with Jerry Lewis, and they form a comedy team that keeps the nation laughing. Earlene Smith is now appearing on the Jackie Gleason show as one of the June Taylor dancers. Ava Kirk has become one of the big three in the field of fashion design- ing, and owns her own exclusive shop in New York. Lewis Burris is the United States Ambassador to China. (He mastered the Chinese language during the Senior Play!) Mildred Miller has become an expert in child psychology. Her motto is— A spanking and a stick of candy will make any naughty child sit up and take notice. Peggy Turner and her husband have become joint owners and editors of the New York Times. She was named Woman of the Year for ' 67 because of her contributions to the world of literature and business. Jettie Walker holds an important secretarial position in the Pentagon. Our dear teacher, Mrs. Grover Rogers, has just received the Nobel Prize for her contribution to the good of humanity. She was the guardian angel of the extraordinary class of 1957. Item 15—1, Earlene Smith, do will my ability to stay active in Beta Club to Carolyn Russell. Item 16—1, W. C. Flake, leave my ability to argue with Mr. Koontz and get by with it to Gene Clayton. Item 17—1, Ronald Crawley, leave my ability to play third string center to Larry Smith who I hope is capable of holding it down. Item 18—1, Gerald Smith, leave my ability to get the school paper out on time to Donald Britt. Item 19—1, Priscilla Smith, leave my ability to get a diamond to Jackie McSwain. Item 20—1, Grady Maner, leave my position in baseball as right-fielder to anyone who will get out there and play in the mud. Item 21—1, Carol Glover, leave my ability to loaf on the ball court to Charles Doby. Item 22—1, Carolyn Arey, leave my love for peanut butter crackers to all the nuts in the 11th grade. Item 23—1, Jettie Walker, do will my quietness to Ruby Smith. Suggestion: Ail you have to do is to keep your mouth closed while others are talking. Item 24—1, Howard Chandler, leave my ability to lose my bus because of reckless driving to Steve Saunders. Item 25—1, Mary Esther Biles, leave ihe basketball score books to anyone who can slip in enough points, without getting caught, to make N.L.H.S. the Stanly County Champions. Item 26—1, Gary Pickier, leave my bashfulness to Gene Clayton. Item 27—1, Gary Frick, leave my bus to anyone willing to drive it on cold mornings.
