We are especially proud of this fact because we are the smal- lest class in the history of the school. In spite of our size, we have con- centrated on a united effort and feel that co-operation in a s mall group can be very fruitful and successful. We have made several changes in the Exodus which we think will im- prove it. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed compiling it. 2 , . In Memoriam Bill Mitchell We like to think that our Junior class president is having a prolonged vacation. Posthumouslywe give him our respect and admiration, as a true leader and a loyal classmate. When Billwas in our presence, there was never a dull moment or a sad face. He will always have a place of es- teem in our heart. 3 The Exodus Staff EDITOR-IN-CHIEE - - - -John Buttrick ASSISTANT ........... Terry Rudner BUSINESS MANAGER . . . Graduation signifies an accomplishment--not easily or quickly attained--and brings with it a personal satisfaction in seeing a job through to completion. You enter a society beset with many problems. However, the opportunities for advancement and achievement are great. There is still no easy road to success and good fortune us- ually comes inthe degree and measure to which it is sought. I hope that each of you will look back with pleasure and satisfaction upon your high school experiences. May you al- ways maintain an interest in the activities of the school. Sincerely yours, -Q5-zwfZa26.af Superintendent of Schools 6 To the Members of the Class of 1956: Yours has been a small class, which has given you many problems not encountered by the larger classes, but this fact alone has done much in preparing you for your future work. You have learned the necessity of cooperating with your classmates and accepting responsibilities as individuals in order to carry on your many class activities. At times you have seemed discouraged and have been ready to call it quits, but you always have found that inner strength so necessary to carry through to completion any activity you have started. We hope you will look back at your days spent at New London High School as some of the best and happiest days in your life. You will go in many directions when you leave here and it is our hope that we have played at least a small part in preparing you to make the many choices so necessary for a successful and happy life. We are proud of you and we will miss you, but we wish you success in whatever you attempt when you leave us. Working on the Exodus consumed much of the time of the Senior Class this year. Selling maga- zines, ads, and sponsorships to help finance the yearbook and setting it up to meet the deadlines required lots of time and work. We also visited U.N.H. as a group, put on the Senior Play and a dance, and finally reached the goal we have long been looking forward to with mixed emotions- graduation. I8 Class of '57 FIRST ROW: I. The boys' team improved over last year's record and the outlook is encouraging for next year with only one senior graduating from this year's team: John Buttrick, one of our stalwart forwards. The boys showed hustle, win or lose. Although they were sometimes outscored, they were never outfought. They lost several close, heartbreaking games and won the enthusiastic support of their many fans. Plaudits are in order to Mr. Hill, our fine coach, who did a goodjob of molding our players intoavery effective team and to our able manager, Malcolm Patten. As this goes to press, the team has reached the finals of the Keene Invitation Tournament with wins over Merrimack and Marlboro. They face Walpole for the title. 49 Boys' Junior Varsity 1 1 1 - FIRST ROW: R. Wright, P. Preble, D. Dean, C. Hein. S. Weeks, G. Kimball. SECOND ROW. D. George QMANAGERQ, D. Palmer. D. Heath, L. The baseball team of 1955 had a very success- ful season. We won all but one game in League play and lost two to Enfield outside of League play. As aresult of winning these games, New London was awarded the Granite League Cham- pionship. We then met Andover at Bristol, a. neutral field, where Andover won a very tight game. This was the first time in several years that New London has won this award. 52 X, --v- N 0' 457 . ,fo--- ',, -. M. , ':. Q, A ' , ,ab ,..v-A--...,.. . .
