We lee eaiafze ef 775 DENNIS SCHOENING HAROLD Mnsmua MARY HUTCHISON JANIS KNu'rH President Vice-Preddent Secretary Treasurer CURTAIN CALL The scene is Washington High School. The time, September of 1949. The Curtain rises and we see ourselves as Freshmeng bewildered, nervous, and over-anxious. With helpful prompting from the upperclassmen we, as amateur actors, timidly take up our role in the great drama of high school life. Although we accomplish little in the fields of extra-curricular activities, however, a firm groundwork is laid upon which to build greater achievements. The second scene is the same, one year later. The actors are more confident and assured as we become active participants in dramatics, music, and athletics. A climax is reached with the winning of the famed Spirit Cup. This triumph is carried over into the third scene which finds the actors bustling about in a colorful Hawaiian setting. The palm trees and soft music make our prom a far greater success than could rightly be anticipated. Armed with shiny class rings and the Spirit Cup, the actors rake their places for the final act. All traces of stagefright are absent, we are now seasoned performers. Our abound- ing school spirit leads us to success in contests, skits, and plays. Men Are Like Streetcarsu displays a sense of humor and an excellent scholastic record proves we have a more serious side also. Now, the lights dim, the atmosphere grows hushed as the curtain begins to close. We move across the stage, passing in review. Musicians, Athletes, Orators. and Scholars, all with tearful eyes but unfaltering steps. We advance to the footlights and take our final bow before going our various ways. Never again will the entire cast be assembled, but memories of past performances will live in our hearts forever. 12
