Soclal Actlvltles URING the year whlle school work was progressmg rapldl socxal actlvltles were by no means sllghted The Freshles started the years amusement wlth a bang A blg party was held at the Werner Hall on September 18 Games were played for amusement E eryone spent a very enjoyable evemng The Jumors held a carmval at the Werner Hall on November 13 A very amuslng art gallery was dlsplayed foztunes were told and a vegetable auctlon was held Although lt was Frlday the 13th the event was a bxg success An Open House was held at school on December 15 Many parents attended the program of the school work as presented A free lunch was served by the Home Economics Class lmmedlately followlng the closlng of the evemng sesslon A unique program was held at the W'erner Hall on December 18 A basket soclal served as most of the evenlngs merrlment Thls was followed by danclng to the muslc of Geo Fuerst and h1s Play Boys The program was under the SUSPCIGS of the Senlor Class Mr McMahon took the opportunlty to express hls appreexatlon of the excellent work done by the debators and the coach He entertalned them as hls guests at the Joint meetlng of the Rotary and Llons clubs on January 23 John R Rledl ed1 tor of the Appleton Post Crescent was the speaker of the day Members of the debate team together wlth Mr and Mrs Brockhaus were also the evenlngs entertainment after whlch a dellclous lunch was served The Freshman Class held another party at the Werner Hall on March 17 It was an all school party A basket ball game was played between the Clty Sllckers and the Country Hay Shakers A glrls basket ball game was also another event The latter part of the evemng was spent danclng to the muslc furmshed by the Hlgh School Dance Orchestra The teachers too spent a few enjoyable evemngs away from the dally grlnd The faculty and the Board of Education were entertalned by the Rotarlans at Werner Hall on September 14 Fxve hundred brldge and dancmg made the evemng a most enjoyable one The next tlme the teachers were entertamed was on September 17 at the Wemer Hall when they were guests of the P T A The evenmg was spent ln games and novel stunts A slx thlrty dlnner ln honor of the New London teachers was glven at Shaw ano on January 15 The dellcxous meal was served by the Home Economlcs depart ment of that school An exchange teacher from Germany spoke on the llkenesses and dxfferences of secondary educatlon ln the Unlted States and IH Germany In order to enlarge thelr acqualntances ln the c1ty the teachers of New Lo-1 don entertained guests at the Red Geranium Tea Room on February 9 Each teach er lnvlted one guest The evemng was spent ID playlng cards both bridge and five hundred During the year the P T A held several dances At most of the programs Geo Fuerst and h1s Play Boys furmshed the muslc The money ralsed was used for the purpose of helpmg the Hlgh School Band LATIN IS S0 E-KSX' Forte dux an Aro Forty ducks 1n a row M1 ante nos lam 1lle My aunty knovus I am 111 Ml neque IS num My neck IS numb tD1d the anclcnts have neckmg part1es l E et out ln spes He ate out ln space Is Captlvus bom Is the captxve bony Facilltes slt ln COHSlll0 Facultles slt ln councll Iam Caesor I am Caesar 11 vush I vsere when I translate Latml 62 1' V X 4 'w ' ' N , I, X Ap: K X Q x 4 ' NSA ' K Rv , S ' 4 A 5 1, ,I ' l ' A , ' u nv! v . . l A ' V- entertained at the Calef home on Tuesday, January 24.
