OFFICERS Presldent Wesley Calef Vlce Presldent Ardell Roepke Secretary AIICG Mae Zlemer Treasurer Arthur Palmer The Forensic ASSOCl3tl0H N 1925 an organlzatlon was started It was planned wlth the xdea of promotlng an mterest ln forenslc actlvltxes wlthln the school and ln any forenslc contest ln whlch the school was to be represented At the tlme of its orgamzatlon the mem bershxp fee was set at twenty iive cents for each student The students showed great mterest nn the orgamzatxon at that tlme and stxll do today At the present the class havmg the most members ln the orgamzatlon IS gxven twenty pomts towards the wmnmg of the Spmt Cup The next ln lme re celves fifteen pomts the next ten and the last five Each year thls Forenslc Assoclatxon elects oflicers to take charge of the buslness matters of the assoclatlon The electlon of officers IS accordlng to the COI'lStltlltl0D scheduled to take place ln May and the officers elected hold oflice untll the followlng May Th1s year due to an unmtentlonal overslght officers of the assoclatxon were not elected 1n May but were selected on February 8 The four orhcers selected were members or the champlonshlp debate team Wesley Calef was chosen presldent Arthur Palmer vlce president Alice Mae Zlemer was elected secretary and Ardell Roepke was chosen to act as treasurer The drlve for membershxp m the Forenslc Assocxatxon accordmgly began on Monday February 15 and was brought to a close the following Frlday noon The membershlp fee for the year was reduced to ten cents because the drlve was put on so late that the debate season had already closed Membershxp ln the Forenslc Assoclatlon perrmts a student to attend any of the forenslc contests held m the audltorlum of the school wlthout any further admlsslon fee The money collected Irom the drlve each year IS used to pay the expenses mvolved ln transportlng the schools representatives to other schools and towns to compete ln the varlous phases of forenslc work The result of this years drlve was below the average of prevlous vears only one class the Junlor recexved a one hundred per cent membershxp The re sults of the drlve and the number of polnts towards the Splrlt Cup each group re celved follows Junxors 100W 20 pomts Sophomores 50q 10 pomts SCDIOFS 83 Gfk 10 pomts Freshmen 33W 5 pomts 52 .-Y., J ,A Q rv' Y

Z s Qi I :NX 5 NEW I ' LONDON HIGH .SCHOOL fp The Debate Season 1931 1932 IX WINS' No defeats' It takes just those four words to tell In brlef the hxstory of the work of the New London Hlgh School debate teams for thxs season The laurels won by the hlgh school debaters are envlable ones they are recognltlons of which any school might be proud It s the second debate championship whxch the school has won the first was recelved 1n 1926 The seven scmors and one sophomore who were cn the teams that won the champlonshlp tltle dld not start forcnslc work when they were seniors all but one began h1s work when he entered high school Slx of these semors have worked to gether for the last three years while one Edward Rebman who entered our school from the Bear Creek Hlgh School durlng his Jumor year was wlth them for the first time this year The youngest member of the squad Harry Wells IS a soph omore Upon Harry as a veteran w1l1 rest the responsxblhty of carrylng on next year The New London affirmatlve opened the debate season for the school by trav ellng to Kaukauna December 14 where they won from that schools negatlve by a 3 to 0 declslon The second debate of the season for New London and the first for the schools negatlve was held at the New London Hlgh School wlth Neenah December 15 New London obtalned a 2 to 1 declslon The second t1me the afiirmatxve team debated was at home with the negatlve representatlves of East DePere agaln they won by 3 to 0 December 22 the negatlve team from this school traveled to East The debate closed the second round of the conference debates and because New London was vlctorlous ln the first two rounds they were pl ced ln the finals The finals 1n debate in the Northeastern WISCODSIH Inter scholastlc Conference were held wlth Oconto Kewaunee and New London competing for the coveted title The first debate ln the finals for New London was held at home ID the audltorxum of the hlgh school where the school met the negatlve representatlves of Kewaunee A 3 to 0 declslon was awarded to New London The final debate was held at Oconto with the New London negatne team also wmmng by a 3 to 0 dec1s1on The two unanimous decxsxons placed the New London group undlsputedly in first place and made her ellglble to enter the state contest Oconto was awarded second place and Kewaunee was awarded thlrd place The questlon debated thxs year was Resolved that the several states should enact leglslatlon provldlng for compulsory unemployment insurance New London entered the Northeastern Whsconsm Interscholastlc Conference ln 1926 when the conference was formed There are thirteen schools ln lt They are Menasha Neenah Shawano West De Pere East De Pere Ixew London Algoma Kaukauna Kewaunee Sturgeon Bay Oconto Oconto Falls and Glllette The success with which the debaters met durlng thls season was due ln large measure to the excellent co ching of H H Brockhaus Mr Brockhaus worked un tlrlngly with these students after school before school and after supper tlme after time The group worked patiently dxscussmg materlal wrltlng speeches and re hearslng them for dellvery effect Mr Brockhaus came to New London followmg the vacancy left by M R Mel house who Jomed the faculty of the Cllntonvllle Hlgh School Mr Brockhaus IS a graduate of the North Central College of Napervllle Illlnols and has been with the faculty of the New London High School for three school terms His splendld work IS appreciated by the entire student body 54 D, 4 bi T 1 1 H ' 1 y ,J 1 4 Q9 11 DePere to meet and to defeat'the affirmative team of that school by a 2 to 1 count.
