Clcrssnvuie -me JUNIORS .1 Q11 Putnam, Pres Q21 Lathrop, Secy C31 Edmlnster, Vlce Pres Q45 Lyon Treas In September 1924 Nevs London Hlgh School admltted to lts folds a class whlch, as time went on, was to become a credlt to the school From the tlme of therr first class meetlng these students acqurred the best of school Splflt Of course they were green worse than that but they soon got the pep under the guidance of Father Dayton and MISS Hopkms They elected Francls Werner as thelr first class presldent When the call for football materlal went out we xx ere well represented on the squad and one of our members made the team He xx as Oney Iange a l1n,e man a good sftlcker We were equally uell represented by Prancls Werner on ihe basketball squad He Hashed around ln true Freshman style, sport ng brlght g' Lf sox We showed up well xn publlc speaklng Ellzabeth Garot vsmmng second place m the declamatory contest Then the school year ended, and our class members nox much xuser than when they had entered school returned to therr homes The next year, wlth Mlss Haun and Miss Alma Halwerson as adusors, and with Ervln Lange as Presldent, we were determined to w1n the Splrlt Cup However, we found dlfficulty ln wlnnlng from the Senlor Class, who had held xt the precedlng year But we started the work ln earnest, and Succeeded ln gettlng 175, pomts out of a posslble 20 ln the Splrlt Cup Contest Then we sent outa large squad of basketball boys, and got 20 points IH that llne of work We led the school ln Orchestra and Band members, gettmg 20 pomts ln each one We dld well ln publlc speaklng as a whole gettlng 33 1 3 pomts ln lts three phases When the cup was awarded t was found that we had 150 pomts and the Seniors had 145 We had accompllshed our arm' When we returned to school rn 1926, we elected Nell Putnam as presrdent and Mlss Haun was our advlsor We won first place IH football and got a good start towards a second awardlng of the cup May the class of 28 l1ve and prosper' can-Jn 1927 IX I 28 wil - an A ! mY.Y,,,,, - - f - . as 4 ' . . ,V 1 X -H' - 1 ., '- .- X -1 7 -1 Y 1 7 ' ! 7 Y . - . x . . . . , .. -.
