A rims: August 31 1951 to May 12, 1955 eltb PLACE: New fisbon High School SYNGPSTS: ACT I. Twenty-three frightened young students entered the halls of New Lisbon. They successfully lived through their initiation and be- came full-fledged high school members. During their green years they learned many things. They worked their problems. with ABC's Ccalled Algebrab, collected leaves and insects for biology and studied the ways of the upperclassmen. They also sold popcorn at the games toward the money for their Senior trip. ACT II. Twenty-two members were left from their Freshman year . Now they knew their way around and made their grades with more ease. Their boys were on basketball, baseball, and track teams, others were in band and chorus. To add to the money for the trip they sold cokes roses, and strawberries. They were very enthused over their field trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, to visit the Zoo the Train Terminal the Conservatory, and the Museum. To their delight they received their long-awaited class rings. ACT III. Seventeen members still are walking through the familiar halls. By now they had more subjects from which to choose and many took typing and bookkeeping and advanced home ec. For the home ball games popcorn and cokes were sold by the members of the class not par- ticipating in the sport. They were busy too selling magazines and Christmas cards, and they sponsored a paper drive. They received their class sweaters of red with white letters and all members were pleased with them. They presented UComin' Round the Mountainn, a rip-roaring hill-billy comedy. ACT IV. Thirteen members now make up the cast, soon to be joined by a new member from Lewisville, Charles Green. Their last year began with the initiation of the Freshmen. They had their senior pictures taken by William Keever of Farmland, and they began their annual. They sold candy and ice cream to swell the treasury. They gave their senior play, UHe was a Gay Senorita H in October. They lost a member of the class around Christmas time, fila McCubbins, who quit school. The long awaited trip came, and the Juniors and Mr. and Mrs. Hud- dleston accompanied the Seniors on their wonderful trip. Then came Baccalaureate and Class Day. As the curtain slowly comes together, we see thirteen members, the girls in white gowns, and the boys in blue gowns. slowly and carefully walking up the stairs to receive their di- plomas. After being congratulated by Mr. Edington the curtain comes EOEGUDST and that ends the life of the senior class at the New Lisbon Sc ool 9 Class Prophecy In the spring of 1965 Mr. and Mrs. Leakey decided to take a trip, so they went to the airport to get their tickets. At the window they were told that their flight wouldn't be in for a while. Mr. and Mrs. Leakey went to the news stand and bought some papers and magazines to read. Mrs. Leakey opened the paper and whose name did she see? Carrol Hunt, one of the gradu- ating Class of 19555 Carrol had just broken a record for shooting down six jets in one day. Some shooting! Af last the plane arrived and as they started to enter, Grace Davis met them at the door of the plane. Grace had just saved nine people in a plane crash a week ago. Mr. and Mrs. Leakey were seated and the pilot came back to assure the passengers of a smooth flight. The pilot was, of all people, Shirley Poore, another member of the Class of 1955. Someday Shirley hopes to have a plane of his own--when he saves enough money. Everything went smoothly, so Mrs. Leakey settled back to read her mag- azine. On the cover it said HMathematical Genius, Daniel Werkin .N That name rang a bell. Oh, yes, he was in the Class of 1955 too. The article told how Dan's new formula determined nhow high is up and how far down is down.H Dan is quoted as saying he owed it all to a teacher he once had in high school, Mr. Ray Pierce. The Leakeys changed planes in Denver. After saying goodby to Shirley and Grace, they went on a tour of the city. Soon they saw a big sign in the distance that said UThe MMM Ranch, Marvin M. Matne owner.U Marvin is a- nother member of that great Class of 1955. He won the ranch on a quiz pro- gram, WCrack the Safe.U The next day they continued their travel by plane. They were seated by two gentlemanly looking sailors. why, the two gobs were from Jimtown, Bill Atkinsonand Charles Green. These two boys, men now, have become very well known for their good deeds. Charlie has just designed an atomic powered battleship. He got interested in that line of work from his mechanical draw- ing class. Bill Atkinson just flew a new rocket to the moon and was the first person to set foot on the moon, claiming it as a possession of the U.S When the Leakeys arrived in Hollywood, they took a cab to the best ho- tel in the city. By this time night had fallen. As they finished theirdin- ner in the hotel dining room, the floor show had just began. The master of ceremonies introduced the star of the show, nMr. Robert Lee--not Brown. not Jones, but Smith, the world's greatest comedian.N Mrs. Leakey remembered when Bob kept the kids laughing in class quite a bit. Now Bob really was do- ing what he liked to do best. After the show he came over and talked with Mr. and Mrs. Leakey. He said he had heard from some of the kids and Sgg McKee Cnow Mrs. Jon De Vallb just a few weeks ago. Sue and her husband were nrospecters for uranium in Canade where they had made a couple of finds. Mr. and Mrs. Leakey then left California en route to Florida by plane. On arriving at Miami they took a taxi to the Ocean Shore Hotel. in the eve- ning they went for a stroll and they shopped for a bathing suit, because Mrs. Leakey had failed to pack one. Before them was a sign WAnne's Swim- ming Suits.U They entered the shop and Anne Wilkinson, another classmate of 1955, greeted them. Anne had won fame by designing a swin suit that made thin girls look like Marilyn Monroe and heavy girls look like Jane Russell. Mrs. Leakey got her suit and said goodby to Anne. As soon as she left, Anne ran to the telephone and called Billy Joe Disbro and asked him to get -in touch with Mrs. Leakey at her hotel. Billy Joe, is also from the Class of 1955, he is now the owner of a big television station in Miami. They left Miami bv boat via the Potomac River and Washington, D. C., where they toured the city. They noticed a lady who looked familiar-1 Sure- ly enough, it was Linda Heiser, of the Class of 1955, who was now senator Heiser from Indiana. She was trying to get a bill through to help the schools, Linda told Mrs. Leakey to go to the White House and ask for the veterinarian and she would be surprised to find out who he was. In a little while Mrs. Leakey found her way to the veterinarian's hospital where Egg Sebring was performing an operation on one of the President's favorite ani- mals. Bob greeted her, and after the operation was finished, told her how he got the job. They chatted until it was time for the Leakeys to leave Washington. They said that they were pleased with their trip and the wonder ful Class of 1955. 10 LAST WILL AND TESTAM NT OF CLASS OF 1955 We, Senior Class of the city of New Lisbon, county of Henry, and state of Indiana, being of sound mind and memory, do hereby make, publish, and declare this to be our last will and testament, hereby revoking any will or wills heretofore made by us. Grace Davis ---- The best way to stay out of trouble is to tend to your own business. Billy Disbro ---- To the Juniors: You had better buy new scenery for your play if you aim to put your names on the back, for there is little space left. Linda Heiser----Try to be nice and courteous to the teachers and you will make it through. Carrol Hunt ---- To Delmar Razor: Better take physics next year. Marvin Matney ---- Don't play jokes on the coach if you like to play bas- ketball. Sue McKee----Once you have found someone, don't ever let him go. Shirley Poore ---- Wait until you are a Senigp to take geometry. Bob Sebring ---- To the typing students: Don't buy a typing eraser right away. Maybe you'll have a neighbor who has one. Bob Smith ---- Don't go hunting unless you have a very, very good reason for staying home from school. Daniel Werking ---- To Deanna Hallgarth: Better keep Pete within reach. Anne Wilkinson ---- Take Drivers Training if you want to get out of school for a period and go riding around in a new car.
