1978 Lexington New Lexington H.S. New Lexington, Ohio 2 3 4 It must be a best seller. It’s lonely at the top. Hungry? Who us? NUT. 14 16 17 18 19 oated O New Lexington Chapter F.F.A. The FFA is an effective youth organization because it is truly an integral part of each local vocational agriculture program in Ohio. In this Golden Anniversary year, the FFA is active in 378 high school chapters located in every county in the state and the New Lexington FFA is one of those chapters. An active membership of 108 youth preparing for careers in agriculture and agri-business attests to the FFA’s local popularity. The history of the FFA organization in Ohio is a thrilling story of achievement of youth under the guidance of dedicated and capable teachers of vocational agriculture. The accomplishments of the individuals in the FFA have been generally the result of the program of activities in New Lexington's local chapter. The foundation of the FFA is in the school, the home, the community and in the terrific people that are involved. FFA at 50 is a vital part of the total vocational agriculture program with skill development in the classroom and laboratory and personal development through FFA. Many classroom instructional areas culminate in competitive events where additional expertise is developed, as well as the development of enthusiasm and the fun of competition and learning. Future leaders — young FFAers get caught-up in the many activities of FFA. They grow into agriculture and into successful adult life! Senior FFA Members. The girls had to work hard to compete effectively in a very competitive MVL. In Sectional tournaments, they defeated Alexander and Warren before being beaten in the finals by Gallipolis. Close coordination between all six players is vital to success in volleyball and this young team gained much experience in playing together. This is also true of the Reserve squad. They finished with a 2-10 season record, with six of their losses involving overtime games. 70 RESERVE VOLLEYBALL, Front Row: Trixie Brown. Mary Able. Jean Chute. Joanna Bennett. Blithe Spirit was an old English comedy with an eerie twist. The hero. Charles Condomine (Brian Kokensparger) is an author, writing a book on the great beyond. Looking for information, he and his wife Ruth. (Teresa Moore) throw a small dinner party, inviting a so-called mystic Madame Arcati (Delanna Grey). The evening is cut short when, in the midst of a seance. Madame Arcati conjurs up the ghost of Charles’ first wife. Elvira (Debbie Gordon). Although Charles is the only person who can see or hear Elvira. Ruth takes a strong dislike to her. and visa-versa. creating a strange situation during the remainder of the play. 108 The Music Man This year marked the tenth anniversary of a musical at NLHS. and ‘The Music Man” followed in the tradition of success. The play is set in a small Iowa town, at the turn of the century, and ‘The Music Man” is really a con-man. Posing as a music salesman. Harold Hill (Mark White) convinces the towns people that they are in serious trouble, and the only solution is a boys band. He sells them expensive instruments and uniforms, promising to teach the boys to play with his revolutionary new “think system. Harold organizes a ladies dance committee, forms the school board into a quartet, and charms the town music teacher Marian (Lisa Snider), the only person who could prove he's a liar. Things go fine, until a real traveling salesman (Bill Swick) comes to town and squeals on him. Harold grabs the money, and starts to run. but finds he’s in love with Marian and can't leave. Harold turns himself in. and the town forgives him. remembering the change he brought and everyone lived happily ever after. 110 Small town lowans show their stubborness in town square.
