Whiz Quiz Team FRONT: Mike Kelley and Rick Carter. BACK: Kent Thompson Not being able to capture the championship as the Whiz Kids Quiz Team did last year, this year the Quiz team proved to be ambitious and willing to capture the title, but was unsuccessful in doing so. Losing in the first round to John Glenn by a score of 115-110. The match was an exciting and competitive contest. To be eligible for the Quiz Team, one must have a Brian Potts. Mike Mooney, and Paul Meikle high average aptitude test score, high IQ test scores, college entrance tests, and then teachers must recommend the student. There is much involved in being a member of the team. One must have quick recall, quick reflexes, and a very important element is the desire to be a member of team. 27

Varsity Imagination and ability were put well together as the varsity and reserve cheerleaders boosted the team and roused the fans for the traditional winning season for New Lexington sports. Pep rallies were held during the day and bon-fires held during the night to arouse the fans spirit for the games to follow. With the imagination of the varsity and reserve cheerleaders, comedy skits were well received by both students and faculty. Many long, hard, hours were spent after school as they perfected cheers, attempted new routines and prepared for pep rallies. Never knowing the outcome of the game, the devoted fans and cheerleaders kept the spirit alive. Sherie. Bonita. Paula. Cheryl. Teresa. Paula H. 28 Cheerleaders take time for a picture.
