Butterfly Dracula I Never Saw Another Butterfly was the dramatic play that was presented this fall. It was a heart-breaking play based upon a book which contained the writings of many Jewish children who lived in the German concentration camp at Tenezin. This play was centered around a girl named Raja Englanderova, portrayed by Marianne Brown, who told of her life during Hitler’s reign over Germany. She described the way her family had to move to the ghettoes and then how they were taken to the camps and killed in gas chambers. She told how many of her younger friends were burnt to death in large ovens. She also told of her love, a boy named Honza, played by Max Gregory, and the hardships that they had together and how he was taken away from her. Her teacher, Irena Synkova, played by Alexis Volek, who was her last friend that was left, and was finally taken away, leaving Raja alone to start her life all over again after Hitler's death. A beautiful performance by all of the students. This play was directed by Mr. Charles Diezman. The first Drama Club Play was directed by Miss Betsy Kodak. Dracula was first written by Bram Stoker in the 1800’s. Since then, it has been made into a play and also a movie. The famous Voide Dracula, King of the Vampires, had lived in Transylvania for as long as ten life times stocking the countryside drawing blood from the necks of sleeping victims. Upon the invention of the airplane, Dracula moved to an old ruined castle called Carefax near Purley, England where the play Dracula takes place. He traveled by night and brought with him six earth boxes in which to rest during the day. Count Dracula (Dave Hill) took as a victim Miss Lucy Seward (Rhonda Williams) in hopes to make her the Queen of the Vampires. Upon finding his daughter drained of her blood for no apparent reason, Dr. Seward (Mike Mooney) Lucy’s father, called in an old friend and specialist Professor Van Helsing (Beth Potter). Dr. Seward, who is the head of an asylum has an unusuai patient named Renfiels (Danny Kokensparger) who eats flies and spiders. Butterworth (Fred Ansel) the attendant can never keep track of Renfiels and when Van Helsing noticed this unusual case he immediately suspected it was the work of a vampire. Immediately, John Harker (Mike Williams) Lucy's boyfriend began to research and found that this was the work of the great Voide Dracula. In the end they finally find Dracula's last earth box and save Lucy and Renfield’s souls.

Basketball Patterson. Tim Shumaker. Mike Householder. Paul Shaffer. Jerry Gregory, and Ned Underwood Although the 1973-1974 edition of NLHS basketball did not win as many games as past panther quintets, they showed a tremendous amount of hustle, determination and a winning attitude. After a tough season against very competitive M.V.L. teams, the Panthers pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season in this area with a victory over the highly rated Vinton County Squad in the sectional tournament. Coach Dick Bowman has stated: I am pleased with the efforts of this Panther team, and enjoyed coaching boys with so much enthusiasm for the game of basketball. 23
