Seniors Represented Change The Class of ’73 was constantly changing throughout their four years at NLHS. Their freshman year started out with a tremendous change; former St. Aloysius students joined NLHS students. President Scott Elwood headed the class in their first year of high school life. The sophomore year brought with it increased activities. With Don Poling as President, the class sold Panther mascots and class pins for fund-raising projects. They also sponsored the Sophomore Dance, “The Haunted House”. In their junior year, the class made quite a change in school tradition. Under the leadership of President Don Epifano, the class chose to hold the Junior-Senior Prom at the Elks' Ballroom in Newark. Their theme for this event was “Moments to Remember”. The after-prom, in a discotheque setting, was held in the high school gym. They also ordered their class rings, decorated for the Homecoming Dance, and sold fellow classmates on Slave Day. As their senior year came and went, the class experienced still another change; they started their final year of high school in a new three-year school building. Don Poling served another year as President and guided the class through many important senior events including graduation, which took place in the new gymnasium. 14
