Nothing we, the students, do in our lives will be as important or as memorable as the years here at NLHS. Through our studies, our clubs, our sports, and our friends, we have taken the steps that will guide us through life. Down the hatch. 9 You can't catch me, Ha! Ha! Ha! A Step For the seniors 1965 has been one of the important years of their lives. Along with regular school work, all were faced with many decisions concerning their future. As they walk these old familiar halls for the last time, and then step out into the world, they will take with them all the understanding and knowledge they have gained in the last four years. c jo o—z m c DONNIE ABRAM Business Football 1,2,3,4; Track 1,2,3; Varsity Club 3,4; Intramurals 1,4 MARILYN ACKERMAN Business SUE ALBERTINE Professional Senior Scholarship Team 4; Future Nurses Club 2,3,4; FNC Treasurer 4; Band 1; G.A.A. 4 Intramurals 2,4 I Future Nurses' Club 2,3,4; FNC Treasurer 3; Glee Club 3,4; Intramurals 2,4 JUDY AUKER Professional Scholarship Team 1,2,3; District Placement 1,2,3; State Placement 1,2; Senior Scholarship Team 4; District and County Placement 4; Honor Roll 1,2,3,4; National Honor Society 3,4; Future Nurses' Club 2,3,4; FNC President 4; Science Club 2,3,4; Newspaper Staff 3,4; Annual Staff 4; G.A.A. 2; Librarian 3,4; Intramurals 1,2 TOM BAILEY Professional Senior Scholarship Team 4; Scholarship Team 3; Annual Staff 4; Art Club 1,2,3,4; Art Club Secretary 3; Future Teachers 3, 4; F. Mr. James Rockwell Mr. William Weaver Mrs. Judith Hirsch Mrs. Natalie Van Atta In September, 1961, one hundred forty-nine timid freshmen entered the halls of New Lexington High School. Three years later, one hundred thirty-one seasoned seniors entered the halls. This last year of high school was the most important one. Many of us were already beginning to make plans for after graduation. To guide us through the last and busiest year, we chose Ade Sisil, president; Rick Beach, vice-president; Kathy Danison, secretary; and Peg Cheney, treasurer. Our Student Council representatives were Connie Deavers, Larry Kennedy, Carol Lindamood, and Joan Seals. The student body elected Peg Cheney for the honor of Homecoming Queen, and Cindy Wright was chosen as senior attendant. Despite our busy schedules, we found time for numerous extra-curricular activities. Our money-making projects included stands and the annual Christmas Dance. Our high school careers ended with baccalaureate and commencement; the class of 1965 was the largest graduating class in the history of New Lex High. As we leave New Lex High, we take another step toward our future. Many of us will further our education. Some will enter the armed forces; still others will get married. But regardless of our plans, we will remember New Lex High as a valuable stepping-stone to the future. A Step To For the freshmen, sophomores, and the juniors, the 1964 and '65 school year has proven to be a very exciting year for them. This has been a year of new challenges, new opportunities, and many cherrished memories. Each day is another step in their foot-steps to the future. The excitement of getting their class rings, the Homecoming Dance, the class play, Danger, Love at Work , and of course the Prom will always be remembered. They elected Larry Gleason as their president. To assist him, they chose Mike Curran as vice-president, Sharon Skillman as secretary, and Doug Thompson as treasurer. They were represented on Student Council by Steve Hanson, Alan King, Jacque Storts, and Joann DePinto. Ginny Self was chosen as their Homecoming attendant. Now the class is looking forward to their senior year. 38 Diana Fankhauser Ronnie Fankhauser Mary Ann Ferguson Patrick Finck Terry Fitzgerald Mary Funk Jim Garey Mike Garey Paul Garlinger Susan Furgason Brenda Call Joanne Gillette Robert Gilligan Lillian Gillogly Eugene Givens Larry Gleason Bob Hammer Jim Hammond Patty Hankison Steve Hanson David Hinkle Evelyn Hinkle Jim Holdcroft Janice Hoops Betty Howdy shell Mary Howdyshell Steve Howdyshell Helen Humphrey Rick Jadwin James Johnson Leo Johnson Ron Johnson Grace Keister Lester Keister Kenny King Karon Kisnler Sue Knight Tom Lewis Linda Love Tom McCord Judy Middaugh Eddie Middaugh Martha Keister Dave Kiener Alan King Anita Mitchell Gary Moore John Mullins Loraleita Parry Chuck Owens Beverly Pearson Rodger Penrod 39 Rick Pletcher Nancy Poling Carl Ramsey Patti Randolph Mike Riley Marla Roy Sue Santmire Ricky Savage Richard Scott Pamela Seals Ginny Self Robert Shaner Melvin Shipley Karen Sinift Roy Sinift Terrell Skaggs Sharon Skillman Lanny Smith Michael Snyder William Sole Cindy Spires Jacque Storts Karen Strohl Neil Tharp Doug Thompson Sharon Tracy Donna Valentine Sue Walker Madeline Wamack Judy Wiggins Sandra Williams Beverly Wilson Steve Winegardner Kenny Wiseman Randy Wissinger Patricia Wolf Thomas Workman Not Pictured: Lynda Barnhart, Rosemary Davisson, Gary Dennis, Franklin Garey, Steve Hammond, Danny Henning, Jerry Householder, Michael Jerrells, Charles McCabe, Lee Miller, Charles Owen, Joe Phillips, Richard Shiplett, Melvin Shipley. 40 STANDING: Cnuck Owens, Sandi Williams, Mike Curran, Martha Keister, Steve Winegardner. Although the Panthers only won 2 games in league action, no opponent ever rated them as an easy victory. Due to this year's record most students seem to forget the long hours of practice they spend each night, and the great amount of effort.
