Ohio State University If America is to fulfill its destiny, the words ox the people, and by the people must apply to many things other than politics. You must do these: Take responsibility for yourself. Since the American theory is that every man is capable of governing himself, he must be a responsible man able to make his own way in life. Think for yourself - do not catch opinions as you catch cold. Be your own master mind. This is sound educational philosophy. No man's opinion is better than his information. Develop the habit of learning facts before you make decisions. Plan for yourself - have a plan of life. Nobody cares a-bout your abilities; everybody cares about your achievements. Your life plans will have many parts: your home and family plans, your recreational plans, your vocational plans, your spiritual plans. Do not rush into them. Consider them carefully. In life there are no lucky creatures. Winners are workers with an aim. I am only one but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do I ought to do; and with the grace of God, I will do.
