Class Our Junior year was a very happy one. We were in study hall this year under the guidance of Mn Weaver and Mr. Morgan. This year we worked hard and tried to raise money for our school activities. There were basketball and football stands, candy and bake sales, and our Junior Class Play. Our president, Bob Mottern, was a hard worker, he was assisted by George Hughes, vice president, Joyce Folden was chosen as our Junior queen's at- tendant. The student council members this year were Mitzi Thompson, Margie Walker, Delores Deshler, and Charles Gallagher. The outstanding event of the year was the Junior-Senior banquet and prom. Thei theme for the occasion was Show- boat . The gym was decorated with blue and white the color the of Senior and Junior classes. Seniors at lastl What a surprise it was to most of us who thought we would never make it. 150 History 24 We immediately began to do great things. We supported our football and basketball teams Jim Pierce. Charles Gallagher, and George Hughes were important members of the basket- ball team. Our Senior class officers were: president, Bob lvbttern, vice-president, Jim Pierce, secretary, Joyce Folden, treasurer, Mitzi Thompson. The stu- dent council members this year were Delores Deshler, Red Whittington, and Bob Mottern. We undertook a magazine drive and bake sale. The homecoming dance and the senior Class Play were outstanding events. This was the year we elected our homecoming queen, and we chose Joyce Folden for the honor. The ceremony was beautiful and we were very pleased with our queen. Ann Shiplett was our Senior attendant. Through the helpful aid of Mr. Orrison and M'. Weaver, our class has published this annual. We do this so that someday we may look back over our high school days and remember all the happy years we have spent together. ---MARILYN CARNEY Class Historian

' 'Across the Miles Class History ln the autumn of 1949, eighty- six Freshmen gathered at the doors of N. L. H. S. The newcomers were overcome by the change, but to some of us the scene was not new because we had struggled through Junior High together. Our first social functions of the year were: our Christmas dance and skating party. Qu class officers were: Mitzi Thompson, Margie Walker, Thelma Wilson, and Robert Nottern. Our hard working Student Council members were Betty Hughes and Wanda Young. Nnrgaret Stewert was elected queen's attendant. Thus, our Freshman year passed. In the fall ofthe next year, we again assembled at N. L. H.S. only to find that we had lost a few of our members. Ms. Bailey and Mrs. Priode were our class advisors and they led us through a year of prosperity and ioyous activities. The class officers this year were: Bob Nbttern, Jim Pierce and Mitzi Thompson. Our Student Council members were Joyce Folden and Charles Whittington. Thelma Wilson was chosen as queen's at- tendant. We are looking forward to our Junior year when we would need a bank account to carry on the many activities which lay ahead of us.

50 Last Will and Testament of the Senior Class of 53 We, the Seniors of the class of 53 of New Lexington High School, fully rea- lizing that our high school life will soon come to a climax and being of sound mind and memory, thus desiring to dispose of our worthy possessions do hereby declare this our last will and testament. ARTICLE l To Mrs. Bailey, we leave a new bottle of poof hand lotion. To Nr. Conn, we leave a brand new baton to lead the band so that he won't have to use the drum sticks. To Mrs. Folden, we leave a box of So- Soft tissues to use in her typing classes. To Mr. Fowler, we, the Seniors, leave. To Mrs. LaBuda, we leave a microphone for her gym classes. To Mrs. LaBuda, we leave a safety suit for protection when riding in the driver's education car. To Mr. Lewis, we leave an economy size bottle of Apple Blossom Hair Tonic To Mr. Masterson, we leave a box of cou h dro s to clear his voice. 9 P To Mr. Neff, we leave a fresh bottle of buteric acid for his future class of chemistry. To Miss Newlon, the Seniors leave their easy-going manner. 25 To Mr. Orrison, we leave the ability to say five and nine like a Yankee. To Mrs. Priode, the Seniors leave a new hair style for 54 . To Mn Priode, we leave a record of I'm Always Whistling Dixie . To Mrs. Sheeran, we leave a step ladder for her use when talking to the bigger boys . To Miss Smith, we leave a book entitled, How to Cook . To Mrs. Enid Van Atta, we leave a footstool to prop her feet upon in health class. To Mrs. Natalie Van Atta, we leave a new hat for next winter's stormy weather To Mr. Weaver, we leave all of the jokes we have heard in the last ten years To Mr. Diller, we leave a new electric eraser invented by one of our many geniuses. ARTICLE ll Marvin Allen leaves her drowsiness to Ned Welker. Lelia Anderson leaves her shoe skates to Ruby Dyer. Helen Bauer leaves her singing ability to Stanley Van Atta. Shirley Berry leaves her lady-like way to Jerry Starner. Rodney Bookman leaves a chinchilla rabbit to M'. Lewis.
