FQQFBALL The Panthers opened thelr season Wlth a 19 14 loss to a fast moxlng Athens team The team then suffered thelr second defeat to a stlong Logan team Both of these games however were played hard by the boys and they trled thelr best The Panthers then opened thelr home season by a declslve 19 2 w1n over the Rosevllle Ramblers IH the flrst M V L game The next game was wlth Phllo and the New Lexlngton Panthers were lated the underdog but surprlsmg us all they came through wlth an 8 7 xlctory Thxs was accomphshed mostly by the means of a safetv when Paul Dusenberry tackled Bob Ryan one of the Phllo backs and scol ed the w1nn1ng safety St Thomas was the next league game and thex wele defeated by the Panthers 2.9 0 The team then tlax eled to NlSlt a supposedly weak Glouster elex en and was held to a 7 7 tle mostly because Glouster took to the axrw ass Thls txe put the Panthels IH second place easy xlctory 34 0 The next game w as the t1ad1t1onal homecomlng game and the Panthexs won 26 0 befoxe a throng of homecomlng fans The flnal game was the most cruclal moment of the season as we plax ed Clooks ulle and our chance for fxrst place xn the M V L was to be declded now or never It was a battle between two well balanced teams wlth New Lexmgton showmg the best defense It was the flrst t1me IH two Xeals that Crooksvllle was unable to cross the goal l1ne strlpe The New Lex xngton Panthers fxghtlng wlth the fury worthy of then name spolled the Crooksxllle HOmECOm1Hg by defeatlng them 6 0 Th1s game meant the Lxttle Whlte Shoe as well as the Panthers fnst Musklngum Valley Champlonshlp smce 1934 Conglatulatlons Panthels' V . . - - V. .
