Francis William Bourdillon As teachers we think of, among our other important duties in school, those of assisting our young people to become enriched in knowledge and trained in skills which are to be their guiding points throughout life. When the school years have passed and the students have shared certain learning experi¬ ences and abilities with their teachers and have complied with other requirements, they depart with a document indicating the staisfactory completion of a number of years and of certain sub¬ jects. This is, by far, not enough—for aside from these achievements there is another kind of learning which is of greater virtue than all others—the love and appreciation for continued learn¬ ing of the many riches which are necessary for a full and happy life. Among these is the love for the beauty of the wonders and mysteries of nature around us, the love for the beauty of the sound of music, the pictures of color, the understanding of the great thoughts in literature; and still more important than these values is the love for those around us, expressed by kindness, friendship, understanding and respect. The values of love are the basic foundation in our learning and should be manifold in daily action by the dedicated teacher and the understanding student. 8 Principal
