June io, 1965 am rtirim Dear Elizabeth, It has been a long time, hasn’t it? Seemed like only yesterday when we were all Seniors. I have so much news to tell you, I hardly know where to begin. I must say though, I was surprised to hear that you moved to Rhode Island right after graduation. I never would have thought you would get married so soon. Do you get much news of our classmates since you moved? I got a letter from Jane Graves last week. Guess you know that she went to Mary Baldwin College and is now teaching in Maryland. She didn’t say, but I’m sure she isn’t married. Well, Inez and Charles finally got married. Charles is now First Lieutenant in the Air Force, and Inez seems to have her hands full with their six little Mihalcoes. By the way, I ran into Betty Ann Peace. Now Mrs. Betty Ann Throckmorton. She and Wilford have a large farm in Quinton and seem to be very happy with their little Throe km ortons. Guess whatl Barbara Taylor really made a name for herself. She is superintendent of Johnston Willis Hospital, and married Dr. Ross Fickle. They live in Richmond. Remember Cecil Goodman and Eddie Watkins? Well, they seem to be doing fine. Cecil is a prominent street cleaner, and in his spare time he helps Eddie, who owns a small, thriving business, tuning pianos. Well maybe Eddie Smiley did get fired from Leggetts Department Store during his high school years, but he is now manager of the largest Leggetts Store in the South. Elizabeth, you’ll never believe this, but Kent Renalds and Sherman McLaughlin have established their own scientific research building. Kent is trying to find a new way to spell cat, and Sherman is giving first aid to drowned rats. Ran into Walter Philbates in town yesterday. He went to work for the Chesapeake Corporation and is now as¬ sistant to the vice-president. Evelyn Dillard and Doris Parsley went to work for the telephone company in Richmond right after graduation. Evelyn is now executive secretary. Doris quit a few years ago and married the man of her dreams, Junior Wells. Drexel Crump married a girl from King and Queen. No it wasn ' t Jo-, well I won’t mention her name, but he did marry Ella Mae Pierce, a very cute girl. Remember how he used to say, aw shucks. Elizabeth, I must say dear ole New Kent is really growing. Remember when you and I used to say we were going to open a one-minute car wash service? Well, thats exactly what Dick Ellyson and Calvin Smith did, and I must say, they are just thriving with business. You remember Sonny Boroughs? He seems to be a pretty big wheel these days. Heard that he owns half of Barhamsville, a rapidly growing town. Bobby Mills seems to be a very successful farmer. He owns a large farm in New Kent. I heard from Shirley Mihalcoe the other day. She is a model on Arthur Godfrey ' s show for Toni. They certainly are a fake, because we all know Shirley has a natural wave. James Dinwiddie and Miron Mihalcoe seem to be big wheels these days. Jimme is now President of Dinwiddie, Dinwiddie, Dinwiddie, aqd Dinwiddie Architectural Association, and has just completed plans for a new Social Security Administration Building in New York. And guess whatl The President of the U. S. has just appointed Miron as secretary of this administration. Guess that was partly because of his long experience with Social Security. Well Bryant Kent finally married Diana, you know the girl from West Point, and he has done very well for him¬ self, a very good pediatrician they say. I imagine so, with five of his own. Elizabeth, I could go on and on but I must stop. My job calls. Yep, I got what I wanted--a job and a man, and I must say my husband ' s a very good boss. Don ' t ever let anyone tell you that you can ' t take dictation better on your boss ' s knee. Write soon. Your classmate of 55 Doris Waxmunski 16
