Here scowls and whines are not allowed, 'Cause we're a merry, happy crowd. No grouchie souls need apply, To the Senior class of New Kent High. Again Mrs. Pomfrey got stuck with us, But, she, being good-natured, did not fuss. Peter, Beware!'' was the name of our play, I'll remember that 'til my dying day. Now these years have sped quickly by, We are about to leave with a sad, sad sigh. Through all, we've tried to do what was right, For the dear ole school of the blue and white. Through practicing plays, having classes and the rest, In all we strove for what was the best. And now we bid our alma mater a fond adieu, With the hope of nothing but success for all of you. CLASS HISTORY Four long years have sped quickly by, Since we entered dear ole New Kent High. Visions of pleasant memories come before my eyes, Reminding me that time really flies. Now let me take you on a journey thru these years, Which have been filled with joys and fears. But above all we have had lots of fun, And look for more since our last year has begun. 1949: All of us were as green as grass, When we entered the Freshman Class. Awkward and shy and some of us blue, But Mr. Waldrop showed us what to do. With his cheerful aid we steadied our pace, And before long we felt we owned the place. Freshman elections were thrilling and fun, 'Twas then that Norwood's regime had begun. 1950: As Sophomores we had no time to slump, For exciting new events kept us on the jump. As upper classmen with sophistication, Mrs. Newton made life a great sensation. A tour of our county, dinner and skating, That trip to Williamsburg deserved top rating. Twas here we added Bob and Jess, Who fell in line with all the res'. This Sophomore year at New Kent High, Holds memories for us that cannot die. 1951: How wonderful are the memories that lie, In the hearts of us Juniors at New Kent High. Mrs. Pomfrey can tell you that we all did stand, Together, united, one big, happy band. Who could forget that trip to Washington Or any of the other things that we've done? In ''High Pressure Homer ! each was a star, On Broadway this play could have gone far! At William and Mary we saw ''The Taming of the Shrew Mr. Wells was a chaperone and Miss Hubbard went too. When looking back in future years, We'll think of this, through burning tears. (continued)
