SENIOR OFFICERS Seated: James Valentine, Treasurer, Robert Edwards, Vice-president. Joseph Veltri, President, james Cooper Secretary. Standing: Mrs. Klinke, Mr. Mooney, Sponsors. enior ass of We were bewildered in 1942, bewildered because we were in a new environment, high school. No longer were we members of a num- bered grade but now we had a class name- we were freshmen. For some, being a fresh- man meant a new building, new teachers. For all it meant a new idea of school, choosing our courses and being treated like young men and women. The bewilclerment finally wore off, however, and we were just getting used to Ken High when our sophomoreyear arrived. With it came a horde of new faces, for Parnassus sophomores were joining us. At first the old feuds arose but most of them disappeared by the time our basketball team was' in the W. P. I. A. L. playoffs at Pitt Stadium. Those games were still being talked about in Septem- ber when we rose to the status of juniors. Stewart School juniors joined us and our junior year started with a bang when Vocational School won three of the class offices. Every- thing ran smoothly and soon candy bars were luring money into the class treasury. We spent that money on the most spectacular social event of our career, the Prom. It will be a long time before any of us forget the garden- like decorations in the gym. The summer of the prom was illed with momentous events but it .was in September that we got a shock. We were seniors. It seemed incredible that only nine more months of Ken-High remained. Slowly, what being a senior meant dawned on us. We struggled through the traditional maze of pictures, name cards, rings, announcements, speakers and tests. The football season flew past and basketball seemed barely started when we saw our pals turn actor in Junior Miss. The madhouse of Class Day and the exclu- siveness of the Senior Private pounded by and before we knew it the day had come-the last day, Taleoken day, Prom day in all its glory. With graduation a mere two weeks ahead we realized what those four years had meant to us. We realized, too, that we would never forget them.
