Having their first winning season since 1973, the field hockey team had the best record in twenty years with a fantastic 11-2-2 record. The first big win came when New Hope beat Bicentennial League arch-rival Jenkin- town by a score of 2-1. This was the first time that the girls ever beat this team, and they did it knowing they had to beat Jenkintown to win their division. By outscoring their opponents 39-7 the team won their Bicentennial League Division and went on to the biggest game in girls' sports history at NHS. In the first district playoff game by any girls' team from New Hope, the girls beat perennial powerhouse and Suburban One champion, Upper Dublin, in overtime 1-0. Although six valuable seniors will be graduating, there 5 will be ten varsity returnees. They include leading scorer Linda Petrie and goalie Nicole Fresco, who registered eight shutouts and had only four goals scored against her. 2-me z if ?f,. mx fl, Q.
