Our dreams had come true. For eight years we had looked for- ward to the time that we would be in high school. We are still grateful to our primary and grammar grade teachers. We realize the great responsibility they had to teach us to read and write and find our way around school. We were a class of seventy-two when we graduated from the eighth grade. However, we lost some students and at the end of our Freshman year there were only sixty-two. Mr. W. H. Davis and Mrs. D. W. Kneeshaw were our Freshman home room teachers. We elected our class officers and got to work. McGee Creech was elected president and before we knew it the year was gone and we were Sopho- mores. Our activities were a bit numerous that year. However, again we lost several students and we were now a group of fifty-eight. In the fall of '52 our Junior class was a jolly group of forty-one. This year Mrs. L. M. Hart and Mrs. D. W. Kneeshaw were our home room teachers. We had numerous important activities during our Junior year. Among them was ordering the class rings. The event almost everyone looked forward to was the Junior-Senior Banquet. The banquet was held at the school cafeteria on April 23. Everything was grand, and those who attended will long remember this festivity. Our final year began in September, 1953,with Mrs. H. W. Allen as our home room teacher. McGee Creech was elected president and we dignified Seniors began working on the many hard tasks that were before us. The outstanding ventures of our Senior year were the presentation ofa class play and minstrel show, a five day trip to Washington,D.C., and preparation for graduation. We will ever be grateful for the opportunity of attending New Hope School and for the guidance and encouragement of our parents and teachers. When we receive our diplomas, the history of our class as a group will end, and each member will write his own history by his future deeds. RALPH KENNEDY, HISTORIAN 15
