HERO Celebraies Third Year HERO, which celebrated its third year as a club, was formed for the benefit of the Madison County 'echnical students who plan to pursue a career in Iome Economic related occupations. Officers from New Hope were Cathy Fann, vice- resident, and Connie Brown, recreation leader. At Christmas time the club members visited the hildren's ward at the Huntsville Hospital, where hey gave coloring books to the children. I

VICA Compleies Achve Year The Vocational Industrial Club of America observed National VICA Week in February. During the week the members set up displays of the various vocational trades, including welding, drafting, auto mechanics , and cosmotology . Also during the year leadership contests were held in opening and closing ceremonies, through job interviews and speeches. Officers from New Hope were Judy Jersey, secre- tary, and Sherry Shaffer, reporter. Jeff Martin represented the Madison County Tech Center in District competition in the Architectural Drafting division, while Jenia Honea was one of the group who represented the school in the opening and closing ceremonies . is is 1 - .

Under the sponsorship of Mr. Stephen Murray, Mrs. Mayme Harp, Mrs. Ross Kent, Ms. June Bucke- lew, and Mr. Herman Roberson, the National Honor Society completed its fifth active year. Among the c1ub's projects was the presentation of a film to the student body. The proceeds were used to redecorate the faculty lounge. In addition, the club donated toys to the Christmas charities in Huntsville and joined the Alabama chapter of the National Honor Society.
