noe Students Cond uci Experimenis Mrs . Evelyn Butler Mrs . Imogene Butler Mrs . Linda Clark The Middle School science students conducted various experiments during the year. Mrs. Imogene Butler, Mrs. Linda Clark, and Mrs. Evelyn Butler taught in this department. Some students did work on social animals. Others did studies on the weather. The seventh grade classes studied the human body . Various students participated in the Science fair.

Miss Walls Joins Social Qludies Deparlmenl Karen Walls joined the Social Studies Department in the Middle School this year. Other instructors were Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Phillips. The students heard State Senator King discuss how a bill becomes a law. They also heard Representa- tives from the Democratic and Republican headquar- ters speak on elections. Later in the year, James Record, Chairman of the Madison County Commissioners, and Robert Spears, District 3 Commissioner, spoke to the classes on county government. Several students entered the annual DAR Essay Contest. Mrs. Jean Mitchell 5? A., Miss Karen Walls Mrs. Melvina Phillips

Mr. William Benson Miss Eleanor Smithers .u no Mrs. Jimmie Ruth Richard Mrs. Judy Tipton This year the Math Department acquired two new teachers. To begin, Mrs. Judy Tipton joined Miss Elear Smithers and Mr. William Benson. These three teachers stressed computation more than in the past. At the beginning of the second semester Mrs. Tipton left because of matemal reasons. She was replaced Mrs. Jimmie Ruth Richard.
