Miss Yvonne Hill taught the third grade this year. This year's third graders participated in many pro- jects, among which were a field trip to the movie, Char1otte's Web , and a visit to the New Hope Post Office and Fire Department. Mrs. Green Joins Second Grade Mrs. Green joined Mrs. Moses and Mrs. McDonald in teaching the second grade. Second graders concentrated on phonics, reading, and math. Besides leveling in reading, improve- ments were made on the learning centers, which were set up for personal enrichment at specified times. The students set their own pace and worked at their own level. As a follow up activity, Mrs. Green's second grade went to the Space and Rocket Center, watched voters vote, and held their own elections. Fourih Graders Have Aciive Year Miss Barbara Walton Miss Pamelia Wiginton The fourth grade instructors this year were Miss Walton and Miss Wiginton. During the year, the students worked toward developing reading and math skills. In addition students we taught Alabama history, science, and social studies. As a classroom activity, Miss Wa1ton's fourth graders raised gerbils. Thompson lnsirucis Ari The Art Department was headed by Mrs. Linda Thompson. Students from grades 5-11 participated in an art curriculum including shading. texture, charcoal, pastels, inks, and acrylics. Mrs . Linda Thompson
