CLASS HISTORY In 1953, 76 boys and girls began their high school education at New Holstein. The class is graduating this year with their learning and their hearts full of wonderful mem- ories. On the first day of school we leamed our advisors were Mr. Gordon Lewison and Mr. Barbara Giebler Mudrow. In a short time we elected David Wendel, president of the class: Wilmer Mueller, vice-president: and Sharon Enders, secretary-ueasurer. 'I'he class was honored to have three members, Sharon Enders, Joanne Niquette, and Pat Sch- wantes elected cheerleaders by the student body. Our first big affair was the box so- cial and dance we gave for the sophomore class. The next challenge was the Home- coming float, and we won second prize for We'll Bottle Kiel In 'I'heir Own Works.' Doris Beil and Jim Rieder were on the Homecoming Court. When we returned to the red-brick schoolhouse as sophomores, we were sorry to see Robert Anhalt, Mary Rogers, Valaria Mullenbach, Wilmer Buechel, and Marion and Dorothy Meier gone from our class. Our officers were President Bob Markwardt, Vice- President Tom Krebsbach, and Secretary-Treasurer Liz Krupp advised by Mr. Bauer and Mrs. Rhode. Our cheerleaders Sharon, Joanne, and Pat were re-elected and joined by Carole Perrin. Charles Eiring was on the Homecoming Court and Joanne Niquette was queen of the Homecoming festivities. Many new students joined us in 1955, but Roger Rieth had left. This was to be a year full of word and excitement, but we had Miss Loelmertz and Mrs. Frisch to help us over the rough spots. The class chose Carole Perrin, David Wendel, and Janice Roehrig for president, vice -president, and secretary-treasurer. Sharon and Joanne were again cheerleaders. We chose Bob Markwardt and Liz Krupp to represent us on the Home- coming Court, and our float, We'1l Swallow All But Defeet won first place. On May 18 can-can dancers, French poodles, and a sidewall: cafe made the gym look like An Evening In Paris. The court of honor, Charles Eiring, Wilmer Mueller, Bob Markwardt Larry Steffen, Ronald Rieder, Doris Beil, Liz Krupp, Eileen Casper, Harriet Hipke, and Pat Schwantes with King Tom Krebsbach and Queen Joanne Niquette led the Grand March to the music of Reggie Barber. Bob Markwardt, David Wendel, and Carole Per- rin attended Badger Boys' and Badger Girls' State in Jtme. We all returned for the last year with the exception of Marie and Theresa Gerhartz, and Zita Entringer. Our officers were President Tom Krebsbach, Vice-president Diane Depies, Secretary-Treasurer Harriet Hipke. Mr. Lynch was our patient advisor. Our float We're Armed for Victory captured second place honors, and Diane Depies was crowned Queen at the Homecoming dance while Ronnie Rieder was on the court. The happy years have come to an end, but the memories linger on in our hearts. 18
