1970 fashions plunge to floor Judging by hair lengttis alone, instead of Junior Kevin Fox, Senior Tami Zimmerman is the logical one to use his door without attracting attention. Bells and long sweaters were popular as seen here on Juniors Jim Frederick and lllene Silverman. Senior Karen Girardot models the maxi coat that Junior Cheryl Ellenberger admires. Senior Trish Janson and Sophomore Cathy Fensler enjoy the freedom of a relaxed dress code with culottes. Changing times and the relaxing of former dress codes by a more lenient administration permitted Bulldogs to enjoy the freedom of choosing their own fashions. Contrary to faculty opinions, pleated culottes and erratic hemlines were not disrupting to the learning process. Furs, suedes and long sweater vests, also made their appearances. Although the male population didn ' t seem to ex- periment with clothes as much as their female counter- parts, guys did go for flared-bottom pants, and body shirts with wide ties. However, they were slow to accept really wide bells, leather vests and Romeo shirts. Several boys broke tradition with long hair, but the majority still found pride in neatness.

Life begins on Friday night For New Havenites, weekends brought a time to mingle socially. Dates and dances exposed an entirely different side of one ' s self. That girl in algebra sudden- ly became a date and a person in a new and brighter light. Basketball games, movies and the local pizza parlor provided places for students to meet and talk. Every- thing from Viet Nam to the next day ' s assignment was discussed. Weekends also provided a time for the guys to get together for the weekly poker game, while the girls discussed date possibilities at an all-night gab session. Casual class contact grew into meaningful and worthwhile friendships; some were to last the school year, others for a lifetime.
