The English Department of ' New Haven High School provides the essentials of English grammar and usage v hich will benefit the students in the years after graduation. The literature classes expose the students to a background of the various types of literary writings. Students of the speech classes acquire more experi- ence and confidence in relating their ideas to others. English serves as the basis of life, and here students are taught all the factors of the subject. All eyes are glued to the board as Mrs. Null reviews a few aspects of American Literature. An unlimited amount of knowledge can be obtained in tfie library. The methods of speaking that these students learn in debate will be of great aid in future years. E£ 11 m Dan Rice practices the technique of pubMc speaking.
