Wayne, Indiana nn ruin This year at New Haven High School held challenging opportunities for each of us in academics, sports, and activities. Along with these things, 1963 also contained a multitude of memories. As the school year passed, we attended numerous classes covering a wide curriculum. We cheered our football and basketball teams with enthusiasm. We took part in various activities — sports, clubs, and social affairs. Our passing fads and rapidly changing slang were as much a part of the year as the old and new friendships which added much to our fun. Let ' s keep these memories by . . . ENGLISH FORMS OUR A part of each student ' s curriculum is public speaking. We find Sheila Murphy demonstrating her skill. The English department develops our skill of read- ing, writing, and speaking correct English. Literature broadens our knowledge horizons. We learn the ac- cepted forms of grammar in our classes. Through our speech courses we learn to conquer our fear of speak- ing before public groups. We begin our high school English courses with sim- ple compositions; we progress each year until we reach the difficult term papers of our advanced classes. Each year, as they participated more in school activities, they learned more about school life. Soon the responsibility of organizing clubs, leading teams in various sports, and learning new, difficult subjects came to rest upon their shoulders. As they progressed through each new grade, the class members changed their career plans many times. When their senior year finally arrived, most seniors had decided what vocation they would follow. Those going on for higher education had chosen the college most suitable for them. The year was filled with scholastic tests, college applications, important decisions, and hard work. Now, as the Class of 1963 prepares for their Baccalaureate and Commencement exercises, they can look back to their high school days with memories of dances, ball games, clubs, classes and people. They are looking ahead to colleges, jobs, new friends, and a new way of life. RINARD ' S CUSTOM BODY SHOP Guaranteed Auto Refinishing New Haven, Indiana JANET E.
