PIGSKIN FINAL Won 1-Lost 7 The New Haven Bulldogs opened their 1947 football campaign on September 12, against the strong Bluffton Tigers at Bluffton. The Bulldogs scored their lone tally in the fourth quarter, as the Bulldogs dropped their inaugural tilt to :he Tigers, 18-6. In the second game, the Bulldogs lost. to Columbia City, 18-13, and again on September 26 the Bulldogs were defeated by Decatur 18-6. Portland handed the Bulldogs a 27-0 defeat for their fourth loss of the season. On October 11, the Bulldogs lost to Garrett, 20-13, and again when they dropped a 40-0 decision to the Auburn Red Devils. Showing a grim determination, the New Haven Bulldogs brought to a close their 1947 gridiron season by scoring a 7-0 victory over the Concordia Cadets on October 22. The victorious Bulldogs, who hit pay-dirt in the second quarter on Schrader's touchdown and conversion by Ellenberger, walked off of the Held with a well fought and hard earned victory. FRESHMAN REVIEW Won 4-Lost 0 For the first time in the school history, New Haven supported a Freshman and Sophomore football team. This fighting team proved that New Haven will be a strong eleven on the gridiron in the near future with their perfect record of four victories and no defeats.
