1' I i 1 Y The freshmen are ,learning about insects, plants, and ahimals in Mr. Nelson's biology class. English Four is an excellent prepar- ation for college. The students learn to apply the mechanics of writing in the many themes required. One semester is also devoted to English literature. Life can be made more beautiful as any girl in home economics will tell you. Besides helping find information, the student librarians keep order in the library, sign books out, check books in, and keep the shelves in order. To improve the quality of the Mirage and Bull- dog's Bark, Miss Elizabeth Leaird and Miss Marge Eichel attended a special summer course at Indiana University to study high school journalistic problems. To mix pleasure with work, Mr. Byron Downey, the shorthand and typing instructor, gives assignments in artistic typing, which is his hobby. He is co- sponsor of the freshman class. Miss Ann Haller, the art instructor, has won many prizes in her hobby of ceramics. She is co- sponsor of the freshman class. Private piano lessons are given by Miss Evelyn Walter to high school students after school. Mrs. Young, the school's efficient secretary, is an important member of the school system. Mr. Carl Buffenbarger coached the team to the first N.E.l.C. championship. Mrs, Wanda Nowels, the girls' physical education instructor. is introducing new sports, along with the driving course. The future orators are being trained in speech class. Maybe a Patrick Henry will come from this group. These students enjoyed painting the town. Of course, the painting was part of a town mural created in art class. Left to right: Jerry Vodde, Jerry Kost, Dorothy Downs, Beverly Springer, Doris Downs, and Roger Hill. Ruth Wiese, Barbara Bell, and Mar- jorie Burkett, first year typists. can type over fifty words a minute. Herman Koenig and Kenneth Augenstein, second year typists, do very accurate work. The know-how of a movie pro- jector is the object of the Projectionist's Club. Anyone of this group can operate the projector.
