Concert Bama? Marches On Under the direction of Mr. Bernard Pressler, the concert band was a regular- ly scheduled third period class. Activities of the year began with the marching displays at the football games. Gene Critchfield reigned as New Haven's first drum mayor. As is the custom, the band presented fall, winter, and spring concerts. The band, the first in the Fort Wayne area to be televised, was also the first to play in a series of broadcasts featuring the outstanding high school bands of north- eastern Indiana. On February 14, the band was host to the annual Allen County Band Festival. On February 23, eight soloists and three ensembles won superior :atings in the State Solo-Ensemble Contest. Cfzorus ,times Up The chorus under the direction of Mr. Pressler increased its membership to sixty-eight. At the beginning of the year the officers were: Dallas Cutler, presi-I dentg Barbara Bell, vice-president, Nancy Van Kirk, secretary-treasurer. At mid semester because Dallas left for the Navy, LeRoy Miner was elected president. Activities included singing at the Allen County Teachers' Institute and at the various assembly programs.
