The Suns 'YIUVZQVS The girls of the Sunshine Society have had a busy year with the main attractions being the formal dinky party, tag day, underprivileged Children's Christmas party, Christmas dinner party, and the tea for their Ideal Ladies. The purpose of the organization is to help others and to spread sunshine. The oilficers for the year are: President, Mary Lou Koesterg vice-president, Ruth Wieseq secretary, Vera Butt: treasurer, Thelma Parker, Publicity chairman, Marilyn Koester. The girls are under the direction of Miss Walker and Miss Roystcr. One-hundred thirty-seven girls are members of the society. On January 5, George Brueggemann, David Felt, Wanda White, John Ward, and Don Putt were heard over WKJG on the City Desk program sponsored by the Journal-Gazette. These Five members of Masque and Gavel gave a lively round-table discussion on the question, Shall America Aid Europe? Provfczles Many ACfl.Ul-f7.QS ' The general purposes of the Girls' Athletic Association are: To have every girl in some sport activity and to promote sportsmanship. Regular meetings are held every third Thursday of each month. Activities of the G.A.A. in 1947-48 included a Weiner bake in the fall to welcome freshmen members, a softball tourney, the basketball tourney on March 5, and volleyball. Two basketball teams journeyed to Concordia and encountered Concordia's teams. Both New Haven teams were victorious. The annual G.A.A. banquet was held on April 22 as a farewell to senior members and for the initia- tion of new officers. The G.A.A. is sponsored by Mrs. Wanda Nowels, physical education instruc- tor, and was under the leadership of the following officers: President, Betty Fultzg vice-president, Ruth Wiese: secretary, Marilyn Sturm, treasurer, Lucille Doctor, and news reporter, Marceil Vodde.
