' Thus reads the purpose of that loyal group, the l'arent-Teacher .Xssociation with its one-hundred sixty-two members. The year started with a banquet in the gynmasium Monday night, October 6. 1941. Mr. Young was toastmaster and called upon representatiyes of the llooster Club, Girl Scouts. Lions Club, Hand .'Xssociation. Hoy Scouts. Student Council, Parent- Teacher Association, and the Ministerial group to tell how they Learn to XYork and l'lay Together. ln November llecoming licod Citizens was stressed with solo numbers by members of the music department, by presentation of the junior band. and by Mr. .-X. A. Cordier's interesting lecture on the Highlights of his South .Xmerican trip. llrightly colored bells. trees. stars. and poinsettias divided the large group who came to the recreation room for the Christmas party. People were literally tied together in pairs. they drew the queerest looking animals. and oh. the noise! Carol singing, the reading of a Christmas, story by Mrs. Fern Smith and refreshments made for liood-llvlll toward all. ln the auditorium in january the head of the lfnited States Employ- ment ollice in Fort lYayne, Mr. ,lohn lliere. gave many helpful suggestions for securing and keeping a position. The lirst six grades put on a circus in the gym for the February meeting. Uncle Sain led a real pony at the head of a parade. The tirst grade put on a monkey act, the second-an elephant. the third--the rhytlnn band, the fourthwa marching drill. the lifth-a clown act. and the sixth-a tumb- ling performance. Uoli, ooh! l'm afraid! was the theme of the one act play, The i-lurglar , written by Miss Margaret Cameron and presented by the seventh and eighth grade girls for the following monthly meeting. The play fol- lowed a description of the work done by .ludge Harry H, Hilgemann, of the -luvenile court. That was in .Xpril. lletween then and the time school is out all pre- school children will be brought to the school for medical examinations and the annual Open House will be held at the school on Tuesday evening, May 5. liach room will display the work done during the year.
