Under the leadership cf Mildred Vonderau, editor, and Dan Purvis, assistant editor, we have compiled what We hope to be an interesting book. Dan is to be congratulated on his snapshots. Ruth Rahman has typed very industriously getting script compiled. Herbert Bechtol, circulation manager, has put over a splen- did campaign by selling 225 subscriptions. He was assisted by llene Burkett, Paul Fruechtenicht, Algunda Frosch, and Walter Reinking. This year we used sponsorships instead of advertising to help the financial status of our book. Our organization editor was Betty Ruth Amstutz, assisted by Lorene Dammeyer who worked cn the copy and pictures of all organizations. Nila lean Shierling was class editor, assisted by Norma Milliman, and lean Larson as freshman editors: Alice Oberlin and Evelyn Rebber as sophomore editorsy Ronald Ramsey and Helen Gerber as junior ed- itorsg and David Van Meter and Dorothy Hedderson as senior editors. Carol Phares and Karl Koester worked on the pictures and art Work on the yearbook. Bill Bolyard, Herbert Bur- gette and Delores Schlink compiled the material for the athletic sections of the book including girls' and boys' athletics. Anna Lee Groves worked with Carolyn Kollman on the music sections. Miss Kathlene Megenity is the faculty advisor for the yearbook. Page. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council has grown from a membership of eight in 1939-1940 to a meme bership of twenty in 1940-1941 because the classes were divided into home rooms. The Council is composed of the president and vice-president of the senior, junior, cmd sopho- more classes, two representatives at large from the freshman class, a band member, and a representative from each of the eleven home rooms, The officers are president Homer Harper: vice-president, David Moehring, secretary, Betty Larson, treasurer, Carol Adams: faculty advisors, Miss Harriet Daniels and Mr. Tohn Young. The first semester the Student Council, with the cooperation of the entire school, sponsored a Magazine Sale to provide funds for free assembly programs. Clinton Moehe ring, Rita Schlink, Betty Larson, and Bill Gasper were asked to serve on the assembly program committee. The committee arranged the following programs: The National Education Week Observance at the Parent Teachers' Association Meeting, November ll. Liquid Marvels by lohn Sloan, March 24. The Easter devotional service April lU. Senior Day, May 16, The Council has made possible two all-school dances. The Snowball Hop December 19. The May Day Dance, May l. They Scatter Suiwlaine SUNSHINE SOCIETY The Sunshine Society began the season with its biggest event of the year, the District Sunshine Convention, which was held in New Haven, October l9. The theme of the conf vention was the Sunshine Treasure Chest, which contained all the deepest ideals ernbodf ied in the organization. The principal speaker was Mrs. Sandetur, the state dean. The 400 girls and their sponsors, who were the guests ot the New Haven organization, all re- ceived something trom the convention they could take back to their own chapters. The Sunshine Society held tour skating parties throughout the year. The girls showed their handiwork by baking and making candy to sell at the bake sale which was a means ot making money. This money was used to send the new president to the Sunshine Camp during the summer. At Christmas the society gave its annual charitable Christmas party tor the children of the towd. At this party each child was presented with gifts ot toys, candy, ice cream, and clothing. To spread Sunshine and good cheer at the Christ- mas season the society also sang Christmas carols at various homes. During the year the society packed baskets ot food and sent them to needy people in the ccmmunity. Miss Grace Ainslie and Miss Rowena Walker were the sponsors ot the society this year.
