We njoq 7lceir lllcwic The Music Department of New Haven High School is composed ot a Concert Band, Marching Band, a Iunior Band, Beginner's Baird, and Chorus. The largest of the three, the Concert Band, consists ot forty-tour members. They have presented several concerts throughout the winter and they have made a very fine showing with Mr. Richard Guthier as their capable director. The students and faculty oi the school are very much pleased with Mr. Guthier's dir- ection ot these bands. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council has grown from a membership of eight in 1939-1940 to a meme bership of twenty in 1940-1941 because the classes were divided into home rooms. The Council is composed of the president and vice-president of the senior, junior, cmd sopho- more classes, two representatives at large from the freshman class, a band member, and a representative from each of the eleven home rooms, The officers are president Homer Harper: vice-president, David Moehring, secretary, Betty Larson, treasurer, Carol Adams: faculty advisors, Miss Harriet Daniels and Mr. Tohn Young. The first semester the Student Council, with the cooperation of the entire school, sponsored a Magazine Sale to provide funds for free assembly programs. Clinton Moehe ring, Rita Schlink, Betty Larson, and Bill Gasper were asked to serve on the assembly program committee. The committee arranged the following programs: The National Education Week Observance at the Parent Teachers' Association Meeting, November ll. Liquid Marvels by lohn Sloan, March 24. The Easter devotional service April lU. Senior Day, May 16, The Council has made possible two all-school dances. The Snowball Hop December 19. The May Day Dance, May l.
