The years following wars are always hard. Tolerance and faith were never more needed than now. As Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler has said, If We can substitute for the spirit of gain, the spirit of human service, and put our life on a high moral plane, then we can eliminate Warf' Believe in yourself and others, be useful in your own way in every capacity and every walk of life, and victory as a true American will be yours. Do your duty as Well as you can, and begin by 11ot hurting others in the effort to please and help yourself. In our democratic system a man is classiHed not by his birth, but by what he has made of himself. Each one of you has a place waiting for you in this World, it is up to you to find it. VV'hen making your decision, consider this counsel, Think seldom of your enemies, often of your friends, and every day of Cod. My best wishes and good luck to each and everyone of you are my parting words to the class of 1947.
