' the elm tree 1934 flux.: of ,Nvl1If'ILt't'Il Tl1i1'ly-fn11:'.' You are the lirst class to graduate under the principles of the New Deal. The New Deal! VVhat does it mean to you? That every person might have the oppor- tunity to work and receive a just compensation for it 3 if possible, that he might have some choice in the kind ol worlcl School is one place where the opportunity exists for all and where he who uses it wisely gets due compensation. lf you have, as a student, judged the situation correctly and done your stint honestly and fully, you will he ahle to find your proper place in carrying on the New Deal. If you have shirked. you will have to learn the lesson with great lahor, late and perhaps at ex- cessive eost. Your class has done fine things for the school and for the city - finer than mere high scholarship grades or athletic victories. As an evidence of interest in your fellow heings, this shows insight and sympathy for the New Deal. VVill you go on in shop, in husiness, in college and live out the idea of the New Deal? I hope and believe you will. RAT,I'TI WIENTWORTIYI, Prizzrijval. 10 ls , 1 F f
