Then, opportunities for obtaining employment were numerous. The position sought the mang wages were high. That situation has been reversed completely. Now, there are few opportuni- ties for securing positions. Hence, adequate preparation for life's tasks is more necessary than ever before. The present economic depression has brought misfortune to all. But, hard- ship often strengthens character. If it has strengthened your character, if you have been big enough to rise above misfortune. if it has made you more resolved to make the most of your high school training. your life at New Haven High School has not been in vain. The problems which now confront our country need the determination and op- timism of youth. You have youth.
