A . . 55132 1 To the C lass of 1Vtitneic'eu Tliirly-tlrrcc: You have spent three and in some instances four years under the roof of New Haven High School. There have been many happy moments, I am sure, though mingled, perhaps, with the strain and hardships caused by the tremendous pressure the world is now experiencing. Possibly we have grown stronger and broader minded through these days. l trust your highest aspirations will be guided by right thinking, wholesome living and human understanding. May your lives of service and kindness make the world better for your having lived. My best wishes for your happiness and success. Most sincerely. BARBARA A. L. HEXN'LETT. 10

It X .J To the Class of N-inctcan Tliirfy-f1u'r'c.' There is a saying that it' you go to the fountain for water with a pint jar you can bring back only a pint. But if you carry a gallon measure you may return with a gallon. This brings up the thought of how much are you carrying away from your high school experience? Did you come here with the idea of getting as much as you could with the least effort? Or have you spent your time availing yourself of every opportunity to grow to your fullest capacity? Did the pint measure ap- peal to you because of the light load and the correspondingly lesser elfort to carry it? Or did you meet the challenge of a greater demand upon your time and interest, and thus attain the richer and fuller rewards that come to those who courageously strive to gain them? But whatever the size of the measure you carried or however full or void it may seem to be, remember that education and growth do not end with graduation. Carry on, live. learn, assume larger responsibilitiesg render service whenever possi- ble, and even if the load at times seems burdensome and disheartening, stick to it, work the harder - for that is life. Then, opportunities for obtaining employment were numerous. The position sought the mang wages were high. That situation has been reversed completely. Now, there are few opportuni- ties for securing positions. Hence, adequate preparation for life's tasks is more necessary than ever before. The problems which now confront our country need the determination and op- timism of youth. You have youth.
