SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHEEEEEEEEEBEEEEEEEEEEEEE5Ef5EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE'1'E'Q EE E Ubin' Ellunmr Hear EEE EE UCH! My sunburn! Honest, you've changed over the summer. QE EE 'ww O-oh-did you see Ruth Halper with her hair bobbecl? She looks QE EE cute. These were little bits of conversation heard throughout the QE QE corridors on that blessed first day of our junior year. y EE EE L' '9 y VVe noticed ever so many changes on that First day, for we, as EE EE a rule are very observant. VVe noticed chiefly that the girl who had QE EE formerly worn a long braid down her back had her hair done up in what they QE EE called Elsie Ferguson style, adding at least two years to her appearance QE EE and causing her to act in accordance. But with each surprise of this 'sort QE EE was seen that the girl who formerly possessed a profusion of adorable EE EE hair, sympathized with the barbers and had had her hair bobbed. This EE 5 change certainly took at least two years from the little girl, who knowing EE QE it to be true, skipped about and tittered, keeping in mind that, One is as old 5 EE as one feels. She probably was deprived of a sense of feeling. QE EE Hardly had we settled down to brass tacks, when the greatest change EE we had experienced in High School came upon us. The doors of our new EE Commercial High School were thrown wide open to enter only industrious EE commercial students. Led by George Harold, we rushed first to inspect the EE HE lunch room for that was where our recesses were to be spent, and recesses EE gi were the part of each day spent in eating. VVe darted from corridor to cor- EE ridor, delighted with the artistic structure. EE E5 Our Basketball team, led by Mickey Botwinick, and including some of our QE EE junior boys, gained victory over all the teams of New Haven, of Connecticut, QE EE and then, of New England. EE EE As a result of January first, many New Year's resolutions were made. EE EE Ruth Kouick resolved to stop making faces because as a result of that habit, EE EE she was asked if she worked in the clock shop. Constance Taylor resolved EE EE not to go to school through Elm Street any more. Andy Tullock resolved 5 EE to resign from his part as heart-breaker, while Moscowitz resolved to resign 5 gg from his villainous role. Ethel Libby resolved to wear her hair differently. E EE Ethel Barry resolved to display her charms for the benefit of somebody else EE QE besides Andy Tullock. EE QE Genuine class spirit was shown in our Junior Dramatic Club, through E EE which more and more hidden talents were discovered. Our Christmas play BE QE showed the other classes that ours was the strongest spirit in the school. EE QE This proved still further by our production of Nathan Hale, the success BE EE of which was due to the splendid help given by Miss Alice Wyman. EE EE We returned from a glorious Christmas vacation only to be met by those EE EE mid-year exams. John Shaw tried to evade them, saying that he stepped EE QE in a puddle a year ago, and that the cold had just reached his head and he was EE EE in no condition to take exams. But Mr. Spencer thought that the exams EE EE would do him good. Hardly had we learned the results of these, when we EE EE were reminded of the coming finals. john Shaw got cold feet this time. EE EE By the middle of June we left our dear Commercial High School for a EE period of two and a half months, dreaming of the coming year when we, as EE seniors, would be looked up to by three other classes. On e1n.erging from the Gym, we bumped straight into Andy Tullock and EE 5-E Vincent Beschel doing a fairy waltz of their own origination. After conversing EE QE with them awhile, we learned that Stillman Rice, one of the knights of the lunch- g QE room, was in room 304 counting his money, preparatory to the mid-morning rush. BE Wfe went to the room designated. and found Sticky playing put and take with EE BE Edith Thorpe and Madeleine Unger. QE E5 XVe proceeded to room 307, where we found Stewart XVeir frantically dashing EE 5 of a bit 'o news for the first issue of the Nt'-mr. EE EE Presently the bell rang, and we had to disperse. but if, during the mid-morning, EE EE we chanced to go hy the oiiice. we might have seen ,lustine Morrison at the tardy EE EE desk. mildly taking off her wraps and meanwhile relating' how she had been talking EE EE with the conductor on the car and had gone way out to Wlestville before she knew EE QE where she was. EE QE As the days rolled by, we began to buzz about class officers. and so forth. EE VVe knew that lid Dwyer would get the presidency. and he did. XVe were al1uost QE positive that jimmy Davin would get the 'l'reasury', ''anonymously''-and he did. EE EE Charlie Meyer wanted the Class Pin Committee- and he did.
