How many times we were hailed as f'Scrubs,' on that September afternoon, few would have been able to ascer- tain, but, once inside that awesome building, we were left to our own devices, all, all, alone. VVith what pride we marched. from one to another of the rooms that had been vacated only a short time before by our Upper Classmen. 'We soon heard of the Athletic Association and of various clubs in the school, but when the announcement of the dance was made, which was to be given by the Alpha Alpha Sorority and the Alpha Delta Sigma Fraternity, to help pay the large debt incurred by the Boys' Athletic Association, it was only as a dream to us, as t'Scrubs were not supposed to go., but must wait until they were old enough to join the ranks of Sophomores. Before long, how- ever, the girls of the three societies gave afternoon teas, and the Freshmen girls were only excluded from the B. T. - tea, but later in the year, one was given especially for them.

8 Nlaw I-l..xvi4:x l-lion Scnooi. Cmss Book. Early in the Spring. some of Miss Mei-Xlister's classes gave a Sliakesperian play in the large Library of Hillhouse. Then came the Radiator dance, followed by our Spring vacation. Wle then realized we would be ignored by our elders but few months more, and that we were to be honored, as being the last class to enter, and remain a whole year in our old, beloved Hillhouse. Ge11c-Wa HUIIIIICI' Strong. oeirrelmmeitmo HEN one attempts to recall events of four years ago they seem to be very dim, in one's recollection. But yet we must start back here in giving the history of the class of 1905 from the time that, as scrubs, we First sat on the old fence and awaited developments. As yet we had not seen the interior of that mysterious building, for thus it appealed to our youthful imaginations. 'Wle knew only that we were to spend four years of learning inside its walls. Our trouble started as soon as we had received our schedules. for we had no idea where the various recitation rooms were and we found them only after much difficulty. Wfe received a hard scrubbing'l from the upper classmen, as we had to run the gauntlet every day for a week in order to get into school, and the faculty were nowhere around, much to our chagrin. A The class so exceeded in numbers that of its predecessors that there was not enough room for all. On this account, some divi- sions were excused at quarter after twelve every day during the year and others were excused at recess twice a week. The football season was now on and IQO5 had three men on the team, which had a very successful year.
